I'd like to announce my founding of the Peter Wilt Died for You Society. True P-Diddy isn't dead (long live Peter Wilt), but like any good religion it needn't be based on facts (Rastafarianism started well before the passing of Ras Tafari), so much as on truths, and the one truth that is most self-evident is that Peter Wilt is the greatest GM in all of sport.
Well, I'm wondering just what this means. I'm guessing that if there were going to be Y-League teams under this agreement it would have stated so. I mean, it sounds more or less like a couple local soccer clubs were having problems and the Fire took them over, am I correct in that?
I reread the article and couldn't find anything that indicated that the clubs in question were in trouble. It sounds like a win win situation for both the clubs mentioned and the Fire. The clubs get a bigger name and more support. The Fire doesn't have to build a youth structure from scratch and get's another way to make their brand more visable. With the Y-League, it would be too late to get teams in this season, so maybe that something they will do next season. Already there are two Y-League teams in the Chicago area; Sockers, Magic. For the Y-League I'm not sure if there is a territory issue. I know for the other USL leagues there is.
No territory issue in the Y-League. if anything more clubs in a given area is a better thing. I'm hoping this club can be built into a big club that can put some pressure on the Magic and Sockers and force them to treat thier players better as well as give more of the fringe top-level players more spots to play more and develop at the highest available level.
You're probably right, I think I'm reading too much into "with the former Wheaton Wings & Wheaton Falcons Soccer clubs" Former suggests a winding up to me, I've been spending too much time studying for the CPA exam lately.
The one thing that bothers me a little bit, and maybe I am just being nitpicky, is the direct involvement of the Wheaton Park District. It seems that the Fire Jr's should be fairly representative of the entire Chicago area and with such direct influence from a Park District, I don't know how possible that is.
great way to get the fire name further entrenched into the area... more uniforms and what not out in society, more families feeling an association with the team but more importantly... have we started a list of who we want to do the 12-foot bronze sculpture?
