I did not know about it nor that is was the same Michael Lienert. ESPN: Report: Tigers employees accused of misconduct toward women https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/46217042/report-tigers-employees-accused-misconduct-women Detroit Free Press: Detroit Tigers executives accused of misconduct toward women: Report https://www.freep.com/story/sports/...-tigers-misconduct-women-scandal/86074575007/
If you're looking for a story with a Fire angle I haven't seen one, just this statement: "We first learned of the allegations from the New York Times article this morning. Mr. Lienert is no longer employed by the organization."
What kind of screening process do the Fire have? The most serious allegation, according to the report, involved Michael Lienert, who joined the company in 2019 and was promoted to vice president of premium sales and private events in September 2021. The Athletic said he "allegedly engaged in at least two relationships with female co-workers that were not disclosed to the organization, as required by company policy, according to multiple sources briefed on the matter." In 2023, the report said, Lienert got into an exchange with "one of those female coworkers and allegedly pushed her down a flight of stairs." The report added he was suspended, resigned and is now a vice president with MLS's Chicago Fire.
The fact that he was instantly gone rather than some mumbling about “due process” and “internal investigation” tells you what Joe thinks about this kind of behavior. I would bet someone in HR department has a very sore behind about now.
I have now seen the (failing) New York Times confirming that. He's off of the website already. The absolute, 100% correct decision by the team. It is also the perfect response. No more, no less.
I JUST saw this on Reddit this evening. Been working out in the sun building a Trex patio and portico and sometimes things slip through the cracks.
