Tried to distill the meaning of this article. It is a little murky. My guess is the Fire still wanting to acquire Franco but at a reduced price. How do you interpret this?
I am sorry, sir, but you do NOT deserve a rep for providing a video of Paunovic and Nelson "shady" Rodriguez. There could be children here and, worse, adults who are sensitive and find such material shocking. No need to retraumatize us. For shame, sir, for shame, indeed. I want you take the rest of the day and reflect on what you have done.
Muppet News FLASH The Athletic:Chicago Fire reach permanent deal for Franco as part of club’s plan to build on 2025 https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/67...re-andre-franco-anton-saletros-berhalter-mls/
This is much better than the flashback to Shady and Pauno. This offseason is going to feel very long. Especially with GGG already making moves.
I know ACL recovery isn’t what it once was, but I am not sure I want to be actively pursuing a guy coming off that injury. Pete (thinks there is a whole world of not injured players out there to consider)
Correct. Clearly a calculated risk. Surgery was in California on 10-22 and rehab will be at Endeavor Health facility. Earliest return date July 1 but full recovery by playoffs would be a good outcome. Does it help if I mention that Fire can spend about the same amount for him or Acosta next year.
Yeah I'm sorry for re-traumatizing you all with Pauno and Shady but it did happen around this time of year and it really highlights how far we've come from those (hopeless) days. Maybe the club should start a Fire PTSD hotline where a fan can call to talk it out?
Um....Acosta is (burning/costing) $1.628mil...Franco (if my math is correct) is "only" cost $947k! $681k less expensive!!! Let's presume Franco is in rehab for 2/3 of the 2026 season...and we get 10 or 11games(say855min) + any playoffs out of him.....vs....655min of meh out of Acosta this season. ENORMOUS UPGRADE!! That said, the "comparison" should be Saletros...box to box mid and will hit the budget for $1.75mil....appears to be an ENORMOUS UPGRADE!!! GGG doing "good work"... Franco + Saletros > Kouame + Acosta
Not yet clear, but there are a couple of 'insider' posts floating around that indicate his new deal is at a 'reduced rate' from his prior deal.
Hard to imagine, but could happen. More likely he will be find a new situation that will make value from his experience... With the new "cash deal" thing that was announced last year, I'm hopeful it doesn't come to a buyout...not good for him or the club...well, could be kinda good for him (its a LOT of cash, but likely dings his future more than being sold/traded).
I REALLY like Franco… …and if the injury lowers the price I guess I am ok with it. Pete (just thinks we can do better with the roster spot than a half year player)
