Sources confirm @MLSist and @FelipeCar's shocking scoop: The Philadelphia Union have parted ways with head coach Jim Curtin.Union feel they need to go in a new direction. Curtin two-time winner of MLS Coach of the Year. https://t.co/cFbnOtA0uO— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) November 7, 2024
As I wrote in the Ex-Fire Player Thread AND, we just could not wait until the end of the season to hire a new coach. He HAD to jump in and grab Gregg Berhalter. We are a stupid, stupid club. To add: Why not both? Have GGG as long term grand pooba (or whateverthef*ck they call the Big Cheese for the Fire these days) and short team "Head Coach." and Jim Curtin as long term head coach. Hire Jim Curtin tomorrow as Game Day Coach (aka "Head Coach II") for a season and then takes over permanently.
That is weird. "Golden Brown" is a 1982 single by The Stranglers, written by singer Hugh Cornwell and keyboardist Dave Greenfield of The Stranglers in 1981. I looked it up and this NOT "Dave and the boys" playing Golden Brown. It a video of the Dave Brubeck Quartet song "Take Five" from 1964 with Golden Brown edited in and apparently played by Laurence Mason in the style of Dave Brubeck. The video was made as a tribute to Dave Greenfield after he died of COVID in 2020. At least, according to Reddit (and when has Reddit EVER been wrong).
If both Fire positions were open, it would certainly be worth pursuing. Given the current facts, this would seem to be “beyond the pale”. But…..
OK this is the craziest ending to an NCAA match I've ever seen. Of course they have the American countdown clock with a hard end at 0:00. With 30 seconds left the Stanford keeper picks up a yellow for time wasting. Chaos then ensues. If you want to skip to the crazy end go to 6:05 otherwise there are 3 goals before that ending happens. No spoilers..... Notre Dame vs. Stanford Match Highlights | 2024 ACC Men's Soccer
So I noticed it was in 5/8 time but it seemed like a different tune than Take 5 to me. I just thought it was from one of the other "Time" records. After "Time Out" where "Take Five" is on there was "Time Further Out" and "Count Down-Time in Outer Space" and also "Time Changes". I have no deep well of knowledge on the Dave Brubeck catalog but Joe Morello was the drummer in that video and of course it's the Dave Brubeck quartet.
That is a bit nuts. What morons on both sides. Spoilers (highlight to view): The goal keeper goes down with 34 seconds. The yellow card is at 07 seconds. The clock apparently stops. The indirect free kick inside the box is at 12 seconds. The clock is then stopped again. Do they stop the clock and then add time to it? Seems a bit strange.
