    RIP Chicago Fire

I read this morning that KDB was leaning towards Napoli for 7-8 million versus the Fire's purported 12 million.

Makes me think that if the Fire need to overpay for European players like giving Lyon more for Shaqiri than they themselves paid Liverpool a year prior, then that money might be better spent on promising young talent--jerseys sales be damned.

I am also concerned that most ( not all) MLS teams need to overpay to secure talent.
I am hoping the Fire will be perceived as more attractive to players in future years.
There is a possibility that players can earn more from commercial endorsements, etc here than they can overseas. Fortunately, Joe has ability to pay more- within reason!

He was going to take a pay cut wherever he went next.
His 24/25 base salary was £20800000. No one was going to offer him anything close to that money, not even Man City themselves, had they offered him a new deal (which they obviously did not).

Yes, we know. The rumors were that the Fire are offering about 50% more than Napoli.

    $1.00?!?
Wow, way to reduce the discussion to ad absurdum.

That is some sound argumentation there.

If this is all true, he is willing to give up more than you, me and just about everyone here will earn in a lifetime, each year, in order to go to Napoli.

If that is not an example of his decision being "not about the money," not sure what is.

Apparently he is being offered €7M a year in Napels? So the Chicago Fire offer was for €10+M?

You must be kidding! Discussion was reduced by contention that money is not considered at all. I said it was not the only thing. It follows that that it may not be the deciding factor -but to say it is not considered at all! Whew!

Napoli is NOT reportedly offering $1, so the entire premise of your statement is ridiculous.

    Whatever, this discussion is pointless.

I will not comment further unless and until there is an actual offer on the table from some team.

    Mindless speculation is unproductive.

Kinda sounds like you are conceding players do consider money before signing a contract. Whatever. I agree this discussion is ridiculous, pointless and unproductive.
