Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has been banned from football for four years for doping.

Of course, he claims he did it "inadvertently."

However, as someone who has been on testosterone therapy for three years, I know a little about how it works and how it builds up in the system. There is almost no way he would inadvertently be able to take enough to trigger the test. I go in for shots in the stomach every single week and it took months to build up enough to even be a "normal" amount.

To take enough to metabolize as an elevated amount to trigger a positive result on the test(s) would require a sustained regime of very high doses. It is very difficult to believe it could be accidental.

Apparently, the doping agency didn't think much of his excuse, either.

Dear Fire Fans,

With our Home Opener against FC Cincinnati only two days away, we can feel the energy and buzz building amongst our fanbase, and our entire Club feels the same way. It’s been a long – and successful – offseason and we’ve been anxiously awaiting the day we could welcome you all back to our first home match of the new MLS year. From big signings to our much anticipated "Return to Red," to some surprises we have in store on matchday, our entire organization has been hard at work to ensure 2024 is the best season yet!

Over the past few months, we all got to experience the elation of seeing the notifications pop‑up on our phones announcing new additions to the Fire. Headlined by midfielder Kellyn Acosta, who brings the experience of winning an MLS Cup and over 60 caps with the U.S. Men’s National Team, and new Designated Player Hugo Cuypers, who joins the Fire from Belgian top‑flight KAA Gent, where he scored 34 goals last season, the Club has taken a significant step forward on the pitch. We were also fortunate to welcome MLS veterans Tom Barlow (via New York Red Bulls), Chicago-born Andrew Gutman (via Colorado Rapids), and Chase Gasper (via Houston Dynamo), along with European newcomers Allan Arigoni (via FC Lugano of the Swiss Super League) and Tobias Salquist (via Silkeborg of the Danish Superliga), who will all help us reach toward our goal of making the playoffs on the way to the MLS Cup.

Our players will take to the pitch this weekend donning our recently unveiled “Return to Red” kits, sponsored by Carvana, as the Fire wear the iconic color for the first time since 2019. We’ve heard the calls over the past several years to return to the color red, and it was important to us to honor our fans’ wishes. These kits symbolize so much history – both the history of this city, paying homage to the Great Chicago Fire and the glory of the Club’s early success. After all, we are the men in red, and our hope is that these kits will inspire us all – from our fans in the stands, to our players on the pitch.

And to help our fans celebrate this wonderful Club, we’ll be introducing some brand-new matchday experiences to elevate the in-stadium atmosphere including updated player introductions, and a new, unique pre-match ritual – Sound the Alarm – that will get the crowd, and our players, fired up and ready for kick off! Along with new merchandise offerings, updated in-match entertainment, and a smoother entry and exit process, our team has been working to create a more fan‑focused matchday experience.

This Saturday, we’re anticipating beautiful early spring weather, with clear skies and temperatures in the mid 50s at kickoff. With over 25,000 fans expected in attendance, we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome so many fans back to Soldier Field for our Home Opener. Well the day is almost done, and we haven't heard my daughter is in labor. I guess she won't have her leap day baby.

I would prefer a speedy YDP winger and Lewandowski, so the Fire could actually win something for the first time in donkeys years, but I guess an "air siren" would be just as good.
