On Saturday, Chicago plays at DC United. The game is being televised at 7:30 PM ET by Fox Sports World and Fox Sports Chicago. So, the question is...
From what I heard if you watch FSC (on local cable or shootout, you'll get jack edwards). If you watch FS World, you'll get Max Bretos. If you get shootout, then you'll most likely have the choice of which announcer you want. I'm not ready to call Bretos a bumbling idiot yet, but it seems like he could take time to learn the proper prounciations of MLS player's names.
A little Jack Edwards won't hurt. He gets my vote (since I still have the Shootout preview). Just make sure you keep the amount to a minimum.
I've got the Shootout and I for one will be watch the LA-MetroStars game that's on at the same time. And since I'm pretty sure that Dish would rather use the MSG feed than the KCAL feed, I'll be treated to J.P. Dellacamera, who sucks a lot less than either Edwards or Bretos.
Ok, so two announcers but same feed. thats not that bad. I could just see a camera crew war between the FSC and the FSW guys if that wasnt the case!!
hmmm... funny, i thought max bretos was gonna be doing KCAL for the galaxy games... weird... can he be at 2 places at once!?... or did he drop out when i was paying attention... i'm tripping out on sheer stupidity here...
I like Jack Edwards better than Max Bretos but I dont get the Shootout or FSW so this isn't a problem for me.
I like them both a lot. But I personally think Allen Hopkins is the best. But he's only doing color commentary.
I think that's wrong. 3 other sources (matchnight.com, zap2it.com, foxsportsworld.com) all say FSW has the DC - Chicago game this weekend. MLSnet.com's schedule and HP also says FSW has dc-chicago
I'll be at the game. Someone tape the dulcet tones of Jack Edwards for me. If I could pick one person to narrate the story of my life, it would be Jack Edwards. Sachin
I was asking Peter Wilt about it last weekend, and he said Jack may not make the DC broadcast due to his Stanley Cup playoff commitments.
Jack The Ducks sweep of the Wings, besides being a glorious thing for joy starved Hawks fans everywhere, had the added bonus of freeing Mr. Edwards up for tomorrows telecast. peter
According to Fire press releases, that is indeed the case. It will be Chris Doran with the PBP call, and Kenny Stern with the funny hair. I mean, with the color commentary. Later, COZ
