I've been watching Chicago for the past few games and after Saturday's game, I think Chi could be the best team in MLS when Beasley and Armas returns. Apart from the fact that the team is loaded with talent, I think Chi has a very good coach who knows how to get the best out of his players. I live in the DC area but I would love to visit Chicago to watch one of the home games. Will the Fire be playing against any Non-MLS teams in the near future?
On days they score 3-4 goals the're the best team on the days they get shut out the're the worst team.
I may be biased, being in Chicago, but I definately feel the same. Considering that our team wasn't even considered to perform the way we've been after the loss of key players due to the salary cap. Dave, has really made good use of our young talent and overall we have a solid team. True, we've had a few bad games, but all teams do. When we do shine, it's cranked to 11. Also, our home game atmosphere is unmatched in the MLS. We hope you swing by sometime and join us in section 8. It will be good times. As for your question regarding playing non-MLS teams, we were supposed to play Greek Team, Olympiakos last week, butthat didn't fall through. Not sure of any more upcoming friendlies.
I agree completely. With our rookies playing such important roles this season, we're going to be inconsistent from week to week. We need to prove we can beat good teams when both they and we are at full strength before we crown ourselves "Best In MLS". We are miles ahead of where I suspectd we might be at this point in the season. I think that if we win on Wednesday and SJ loses, we would end up first in the East with the most points in the league and still have a game in hand on LA, KC and Columbus. Wow.
To be fair, the premise is NOT that Chicago is the best team right now, it's that we'll be the best team when our USMNT guys get back. Given the experience guys as far down the roster as Futagaki are getting right now, it's not that much of a stretch. If we can catch Metro in the East without three of our stars, we've got a ton of momentum heading into the second half of the season. Later, COZ
A win over Dallas puts us on top of the overall MLS table (at least until the eQuakes play). Wouldn't that make us the best MLS team?
We are way ahead of where people thought we'd be, but it's just what I was hoping. I just don't understand why we don't have a better defense, because that hasn't changed since last year (well, now Bocanegro's gone, but...). We are a fairly young team, so we're going to be fairly inconsistant, inasmuch as we'll win or lose to anybody on a good or bad day, and we won't have to many lucky middle days when we scrape out a 1-0. Or at least, that's what I've learned from following another young team this season... But, with the silly playoffs at the end of the year, the team should be in great shape for them, as long as they stay healthy. I really like what I've seen of Damani Ralph, and I thought Andy Williams was class when I saw him against us in Giants stadium last summer. Really, with the playoffs, we don't have to be the best team in MLS until this fall...
Jesus You win one game and you think your gods gift to the MLS. If you win on a consistent basis then you have a good argument. The SJ and NY wins were nice, but you lost to DC in the middle... thats inconsistent. Its nice to see that Ante is finally producing. I certainly see Chicago in the Top 5, right now.
C'mon BDog! get on the band wagon. We have beaten every conference leader, have only lost two games, 1 to a fired up DC team that was desparate for a win on a day with a bad pitch and The Beezer had an off day and the other away to NE when they were on a roll...Other than KC...who else can say they have beaten the top teams, has fewer losses, and more points?
There isn't one team in the MLS that is the best. Is there an undefeated team?, no. As for the Fire, they are top 5, but not the best.
