Sad news indeed. Prayers and positive energy for his family, loved ones, friends, and the whole Fire organization.

Just caught in the cross-fire. Damn, it's sad when you're trying to do your own thing and the gangs pull you into their world by default. A fellow Naija too. A damn shame. RIP Kabiru Adewunmi.

Such a stupid crime. Someone with worthless ambition taking out someone trying to do something with his life. This type of thing makes me fear for my nephew, who's a hs athlete who's more into books and sports than being a thug. But there have been events in recent years with student athletes getting caught up in gang crossfire or being attacked for little more reason than jealousy.

The Fire do plan on honoring him at Saturday's game.

It's a terrible loss, regardless of the sport he played. A stupid loss.

Re: Chicago Fire academy player is still playing soccer somewhere I'm certain

    RIP young man.

There is footy on the other side.

Low lie the fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
It's so lonely round the fields of Athenry.
