    Whoa.

    Did not see that coming.

That ought to stir the pot a bit more.

I think it's no big deal but I am sure Liam or one of the other moderators is going to come in here pretending the end of the world is near because Jack is our Play by Play guy! I am sure we will all be climbing the ladder watching the Fire get it's butt whipped this season!!!!!!!!!

actually, i dont mind Edwards as much as some do but yeah, some things he says gets a little ridiculous. Whose got dibs on the first time he refers to Cardinal Stadium as a "Cauldron of Noise"

Ya' know, the most painful thing to do is rewatch the Mexico WC match. The entire time after the "Hand of JOB" all Edwards could do was spew about it. At the time, maybe he felt it was an injustice, but now, after we have seen replay after replay which clearly shows his arm was forced that way by contact with the Mexican player he was defending it's simply nauseating to hear. Add "The land of the free, home of the brave..." and "My eye's have seen the glory," "climb the ladder," "70 yard punt" and the rest and I am so glad Jack's not a USMNT announcer any more. He's a solid broadcaster, but perhaps his emotions have hindered his accomplishments for the Yanks.

I know when the USNT is involved I tend to become very emotional and not altogether like my usual self. Maybe Jack's the same. I know I don't doubt his passion for US soccer, and I'd love to hang with him before (or after) a match to down a few and BS.

(BTW, I was a DJ, broadcaster, sports PBP guy for 13 years, and when it was an emotional attachment it was VERY difficult to not get carried away.)

Well, we are getting a real proffesional, so thats good.

Personally, I find him annoying. I wasn't one of his fans of the MLS call, but everyone has their own preference.

Crap. We have 10 guys currently on our roster (see Fire webpage) who are 6'0 or taller, and another 3-4 who are just a shade under. "Climb the ladder," the official broadcasting slogan for your Chicago Fire. :D:(

Far be it from me to disappoint Mr. Moneybags Croatia, here...but we could have done a lot worse. Basically, there aren't a lot of soccer PBP guys out there who are one, experienced; two, nationally known; and three, actually love to do it.

Edwards fits all three, whatever you think about him. Of course, I'd still prefer Damien, but, well... :(

The problem is not our PBP guy. It never has been, much like with national broadcasts. (Well, maybe so, in the case of Trey Bender...) It's the color commentator. And Kenny Stern surpasses Ty by about 5 leagues on the idiocy scale.

But again, not bad. Jack did a game or two for us last year, actually. An interesting choice, no matter how you look at it.

Yeah, right now it looks like radio color. More news as that becomes available. I was lobbying for on-the-field for TV, but they have someone in mind.

Solution: Just go to all the games, home and away, and you never have to listen to him.

Wonder how many goals Boca will score on torpedo headers this year?

Zero, only Greg Berhalter can preform the torpedo header.

I think it's great we got someone with experience who loves the game. I'm sure he's taken note of fans' criticism (losing one's job tends to make one refocus) and I'm sure all the hated phrases will not resurface.

So I think it only fair that we should give him the benefit of the doubt and welcome him with open arms. I'm sure he wouldn't be here if he wasn't a class guy. So let's treat him so. Maybe a sign welcoming him? Mine ears have heard the glory?

Major League Soccer and Fox Sports World are nearing agreement on a deal that would enable the cable channel to broadcast a league game on Saturday nights and a 30-minute highlight show focusing on M.L.S. ...

    Sweet! Bring on Max Bretos!

I better start lobbying my cable company for GolTV now. Games from Italy?

Not to mention every game RMCF plays on tape delay. And RMTV!

right now, though, you'll have to get DISH network and buy the Dish Latino package like I have...but it's not bad in my case since there's also TV Azteca and TVe included...and that means highlight shows and sports shows from Mexico and Spain, and the occasional live or taped match. I think it's 20 extra a month. But with Goltv it makes it worth it no question. Supposedly there will be a north american soccer highlights show (in spanish) featuring MLS and MFL and the national teams on this network. They sent reporters to the US-Argentina match in Miami.

Not that we're in any position to complain, but, darn I hope not.

But this is good news NMW.
