this is the foreplay in the cycle of life i like to call "getting philly a damn team" the ground hasnt been penetrated yet but all you can do is think about it w/ tons of anticipation! (i crack myself up..)
to quote Ray Hudson - "he's played as big as king kong climbing the empire state building the entire game only to make a play as stupid as a bus of drooling bastards with an extra chromosome"
you must spread rep blah blah blah - can someone rep the revival of "on ice" for me I hope this article/announcement is the real deal. My limited knowledge of the situation reveals a couple of red flags. Maybe the PM's name is just eeriely similar to an MLS official.
Re: Chester Stadium RFQ Advertised in Trade Magazine (Philly) Bryan I think this is the biggest red flag in this thing. It looks like a hoax by someone who didn't know their details. Celt - how difficult would it be for JoeSchmoe to send an add into this "publication"
I just got off the phone with the advertising dept at Philadelphia Construction News in FL. They confirm everything before they print it. As much as we're conditioned to be Negadelphians, I think this is the real deal.
well even if the bids are listed as delayed, it still completes the project before Red Bull Park ever opens...
Thanks for checking on that for us. As far as I know the construction news is very reliable (at least we've never had a problem in any of the bids we're involved with). As to getting contact names correct, I guess they were asleep on that one.
All the Philly soccer reporters read our forum now, no surprises there. The timeline is still fuzzy for me. Does a 2010 "end time" mean that the stadium will be fully constructed "sometime" in 2010?
That's what I'm guessing. They're probably just throwing arbitrary dates out there, based on the expansion schedule of 2010.
plus we have to remember it's just an ad, and there's a limited amount of information on it. i mean, come on, where's division 5 metals?! will there not be any metal on this project? no studs (except for me of course), no roofing, nor wall surfaces? seriously though, when/if a contractor makes the call to get the drawings to work their bid price from, they'll be able to receive much more information, ESPECIALLY when bids are due, when ground breaking is scheduled for, when project close-out and "turning over the keys" will occur, etc.
heh, my company would be the one sending the package out to celt's. missing are bolded. Division 1 - General Requirements Division 2 - Site Construction Division 3 - Concrete Division 4 - Masonry Division 5 - Metals Division 6 - Wood and Plastics Division 7 - Thermal and Moisture Protection Division 8 - Doors and Windows Division 9 - Finishes Division 10 - Specialties Division 11 - Equipment Division 12 - Furnishings Division 13 - Special Construction Division 14 - Conveying Systems Division 15 - Mechanical Division 16 - Electrical
Early in the thread someone suggested MLS already has a preferred contractor in mind. Is this ad one of those "satisfy the EEOC requirements" type publications submitted solely to meet the letter of the law for free and open bidding?
