http://www.philly.com/inquirer/local/pa/chester/nabes/15426087.html We need you to participate in this project. Something like FCMatt90's or PopeDX's couple of letters would be a good guideline. If you are going to include project facts, start here.
We know that the Inquirer intends to run Sen. Pileggi's op-ed piece Tuesday, so it sounds like they're trying to build some additional voices around it. It would be great if your letter could include language expressing your excitement not only for watching professional soccer in Philadelphia, but being able to do so along a revitalized Chester waterfront that will have all sorts of entertainment options available. Critics have said soccer fans won't want to go to Chester, but you know otherwise. Ideally, each of you would say this in your own way; we don't want to send in form letters, or the paper won't use them.
Nice, Matt. Perhaps another letter about how soon the state funding would be 'earned back' As in: After xx years the Commonwealth will earn their money back and the Riverfront property will continue to provide dividends. Essentially the project is a short term low risk loan, to a group of investors who have successfully proven themselves in other markets with family friendly infrastructure and commercial businesses. Since I'm out of state, I'm going to write about a closer place to visit than going all the way to Philly.
The email address they gave is bouncing back. *sigh* In fact, the domain phyllomes.com isn't even a registered domain.
Just sent mine to chesterletters@phillynews.com and CCd inquirer.letters@phillynews.com. If you send to both of those you're ok. Just got a confirmation of receipt. I also included a note saying I'd like it included in the Community Voices page on the subject.
Cut back on the SAT words, too. Remember, 7th grade reading level, keep it simple. Just hit one big point or two. All the letters I've seen so far have hit different things, hopefully we'll get a full representation between them all.
After I sent my letter, the following occurred to me - so anyone who wants to use it should. there are 3 options for Chester. a. - no redevelopment - continued poverty b. State only funding. Most control, but also most expensive. c. Public-private partnership. Much less expensive than (b), but developer has some say in what is built. Doesn't c seem like the best solution?
So far we have about 15 really fantastic letters submitted, all of them that I've seen approach it differently, which is really great. One benefit of giving out the wrong address has been that I know how many letters were written
Sent mine in too Pope -- not going to post it here though. I went major stealth and made sure there was no SOB connection. Just a 'concerned soccer dad'. If they are smart -- they'll recognize a letter writing campaign and check here for all the ones posted. I'll be happy to send along to a private email if you just want to keep track.
That's a good point. I bet they google portions of letters before a decision is made on publication...
Sorry, it may have been lost in the season ticket responses. From Friday at Noon until now, I have gotten 736 emails.
I'm confused, was the one I posted here sent to the correct address or just edited out of my post? I have it and all, no big deal, just if it's already been sent I won't send it again, but if it hasn't I'll send it. Which, by the way, is which address?
