Stanjer denied, and Hanke whiffs on a juicy rebound...

Cherundolo looks to be in pretty good form thus far

In the 21st, Steve has a nice run up the middle of the field followed by a decent through ball (with a little too much weight) and another nice touch later in the sequence setting up a shot from distance.

Cherundolo almost had a bad giveaway a few minutes ago (30th). 96 have looked pretty dangerous so far, though.

Penalty to Hannover. Schultz wins it.

Huszti puts it away. 0-1 to the visitors.

Van der Vaart with a yellow for a foul on Cherundolo. He's too much of a hot head to be captain.

Cherdundolo draws a yellow on VdV...or perhaps it would be more accurate to say VdV drew a yellow and just happened to use Cherundolo to get it.

HE jumped into our boy, went down, and then screamed at the ref for not calling the foul, and the showed no hesitation in showing the card.

HSV are close to losing their heads

Hey, I was wondering if Preston Zimmerman was close to making the first team squad for HSV.

Well he's with the u-23s right now, and has technically been promoted to the first team. I guess we'll see if he starts making the bench when you gets back from the US.

Edit: He might not be with the u-23s.

Zimm just signed a new first-team contract with Hamburg, so he's obviously in their first-team plans for the future. I don't think he's quite there yet, but I'd guess they're trying to build him up Bradley-style. He'll get his chance soon methinks.

I was wrong on this, too. The contract was a professional contract, but I don't think that has anything to do with the first team.

And back to the match, Boateng almost levels it before Huszti puts it off the post.

Should have been two. Pinto retaliated (stupidly) for a yellow card tackle followed up by a deliberate studs to his thigh. They both should have gone.

Cherundolo had a funny game (not ha ha funny, but strange funny). Most of the time he looked really good, but two or three times he hung his team out to dry with passes that just did not reach. Like a golfer with the yips.

Agreed. Every time the camera was on him it looked like he was blaming somebody for something.

one of them towards the end of that match. He won a ball in a tight situation, tried to get upfield to initiate a counter, and just didn't put enough weight on a pass, which got picked and it almost resulted in a PK against Hannover.
