No, just isn't making the bench. Rangnick is going with Bobic, and Kaufmann as his backup.

    2-1 Hannover at halftime.

Rostock went ahead on 39, but two minutes later Bobic headed in SC's cross to tie the match, and then Idrissou put Hannover ahead just before halftime.

3-1. Konstantinidis on 67' gives Hannover a bit of breathing room.

It takes a lot to break through in Germany if you're an unproven player. Casey may look as good as Kaufman and/or Bobic in practice, but one thing about Germany is that they'll go with the more experienced player(older) nearly every time. Conservatism is the norm.

I wonder why this wasn't mentioned: Cherundolo had his second assist of the season today (for the 1-1 equaliser). He was doing much more for the offence than in the last weeks, that's what I liked. Most of Rostock's attacks seemed to go over his side though and he did not always seem to be secure. At Rostock's goal, he was close to Meggle, who reacted earlier in the chaos (no blame for that one from my side though).

This game might not be over though. Before Hannover's 2-1 there seems to have been a whistle due to an offside position by the ref (it indeed was offside). Then Hannover scored, the assistant had his flag down and the ref counted the goal. Huge excitement of course on Rostock's side, which also was cheated at the 3-1 (dive by Stajner, no free kick), but OTOH had luck to not get a pk against at 3-1. There was a similar situation some years ago. There the referee was Malbranc (I remember this as this was his last game in Bundesliga), who clearly - this time it could not be heard on TV, but even Hannover's coach admitted the whistle and also Idrissou first thought that the goal does not count - whistled foul, but the recognised that he stopped an advantage; the player scored in the moment after the whistle and the ref counted the goal. The game had to be repeated back then because of a referee mistake basing on wrong application of the rules, which is a difference to a wrong evaluation in a certain situation. Rostock did not announce a protest yet; we'll see if this game is going into extratime.

    Cherundolo rated 3

Both, Cherundolo and Casey appear in kicker's scetion "Behind the scenery":

Nutrition fanatics Lienen probably gets stomach ache when he hears about the measure of his colleague Ralf Rangnick. The 96-Coach presented home specific lunch for each player in the locker room. This meant: BigMacs for Steve Cherundolo and Conor Casey. Fast Food also for Jiri Stajner - the occasionally overweight Czech once was member in the McDonald's club.

Ewald Lienen is Coach of Mönchengladbach last week. After the first training unit he served salad plates for all players as lunch. Formerly, in Cologne, he once ordered urine-specimen to check whether the players are smoking cigarettes in their free time.

    Olaf...

listening to German soccer on FSW, there seem to be many whistles in the stadium... many of them identical to that of the referee and used in a manner clearly meant to confuse the situation on the field... I am surprised (actually shocked) that the clubs let "fans" get away with this (actually, I am surprised that other fans don't choke them with the lanyard)... is this really as common in Bundesliga games as I think??? or does FSW just show a lot of games where it happens???

Hannover's on a bit of a roll, aren't they? I noticed from a quick scan on the FSW Report standings they'd moved mid-table, albeit only 6 points clear (I think).

Cherundolo must really be getting some great experience; CC, OTOH, just has to be patient and be ready to strike when his moment comes.

It was annoying some years ago, but meanwhile I had the feeling that it stopped. But, sure, there are major security checks, but you cannot find every whistle, especially if it's connected with the keys.

    Re: Question

Not yet. Doesn't look good for Rostock as the ref insists to not have blown the whistle before the ball went over the line, although TV pictures meanwhile clearly prove the opposite. Sports court can just decide according to the ref: if he says that he didn't blow the whistle, then it was a game decision, which is no reason for a repetition - if he admits the mistake (as Dutch ref van der Ende in a CL qualifier, Innsbruck vs Moscow I think), then it can very well be that the game has to be repeated.

    Thanks Olafgb

I just saw today at the Hannover site that the decision is expected NEXT WEEK on Thursday. I had thought they meant Thursday as in yesterday.
