Looks like Daddy Warbucks Abromobitch wants another big name signing at the Bridge . . .

I like Robben a lot, think he has enormous potential, but it's sad he'll amount to nothing more than "potential" after this summer.

I'll be the first to admit that Chelski still sucks my left one (it hangs lower, btw), but they are thinking about the future rather than solely immediate gratification.

Is this a direct reaction to another 20 year old's signing by another London club? As well as getting schooled by the same "unnamed" London powerhouse?

I thought he wanted to go to Man United? Enjoy your bench warming and matches every five weeks, Arjen.

I would much rather he goes to Chelski than ManPoo. I'm predicting they buy another five guys or so this summer, don't win any trophies again next year, repeat the same thing for the following season, then Roman sells the club off and the new owner sells off half the squad.

I hope you're right but I've rumours that Chelsea will be dumping several players over the summer with Gronkjaer probably being one of them. If that's done then they might be able to make room for Robben as he is an exciting talent.
If I were Joe Cole, however, I would be asking my agent to get me out of there. I know Cole and Robben don't really play the same position but the midfield as a whole for Chelsea continues to get more and more crowded.

let them continue to buy midfielders. then when they piss off their players by not having all of their stars play every game, their reputation will sink even lower among potential targets. who wants to be on a team they can't play for?

How many midfielders do they need? Everytime they purchase another midfielder it makes me think that Abromavich is playing a real world Championship Manager game. It would be cheaper just to by the game for $50 and then he can also be the manager as well.

I saw Robben interviewed on sky sports news tonight. Its a little hard to read much into what a person says when they are not speaking in their first language, as far as just judging from their tone, but he sounded non to thrilled to be going to Chelsea. You wonder if he had a choice with the PSV/Chelsea tie.

The PSV/Chelsea deal seems odd, PSV are one of only 4 clubs ever to win the treble, and now they are going to be the farm system for a club with less hardware than them?

U are correct...... First of all Robben isn't that good, he is probably worth closer to 12 million pesos.....

I don't know....I think he's pretty good. Plus he's young and has tons of potential. It seems like every time I watch a Dutch match on FSW it's either PSV or Ajax playing and if it's PSV, Robben is usually torching whichever defender happens to be marking him.
That being said, I agree that it might be very tough for him to get playing time and therefore develop in that already crowded Chelsea midfield.

It's well documented he wanted to move to Manchester United in the summer. Sounds like he's been screwed over.

When money talks, the club balks I suppose. poor ManU. Bully being bullied, how sad.
Did anyone else hear the rumours that Abramovich tried to buy Arsenal because he was a supporter and adored the way they played? Perhaps there's a sabotage plan in the works. Seroiusly he seems to really despise United the way he's ursurped this player they targeted (can't recall, have there been others?), or at least driving up the price as with Saha. I think Chelsea really could of done that with Reyes, at least I heard of some last minute unsuccessful bid, but what's really going on? Sevilla was always in it for the money, are Arsenal's transfer feints that good or is it my imagination that he's not out to get the Arse in the same way he is ManU? I'm sure it's been kicked around to death in the red Manchester board.
Could care less about that, but what I am afraid of however, is that with the right manager, even mercenaries (Veron, Geremi, Makelele, JFH, Crespo et cetera) can get results, and play together. I shudder to think of a Chelsea with even a bit of camaraderie could achieve given their growing talent.

Here's a bit you've probably read about some rumblings of discontent with the chelsea squad.

    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=293169&cc=5739

Money just can't buy love, can it?

As I've written before beware of a Chelsea that comes together, but I think the experiment has failed for them this term.
Whatever the Arsenal does this campaign I'm honored to be a supporter. Team unity and pride should be what pro athletics are all about. Success is wonderful, but without fealty to the club and fans, and chemistry within the team, aquiring silverware amounts to nothing a bunch of pirates gathering booty unearned except by force, arghhh.

I hope we are laying the foundation for greatness, for the future looks bright, but even if we fall short every supporter should be proud to know that the squad plays with heart and competitive spirit and unity week in and week out.

Roll on London Arsenal, roll on.

You might want to factor in the Chelsea chief exec for a possible reasoning for the desire to shaft Man U.....
