Solanke done for the season, Vicario fit. We need one point at a place that has been a graveyard for us or it comes down to the final day.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cn8permenlno Chelsea supporters will be keen to pile the misery on to Spurs when the sides meet at Stamford Bridge. But De Zerbi said his players have to "enjoy this pressure", calling a "good thing" for them to have. "The pride is amazing motivation. The pride, if everyone wants Tottenham relegated, I think for one Tottenham player, one Tottenham fan, all the people who work inside Tottenham, it has to be the biggest motivation" COYMFS!
Here are the teams: Tottenham: Kinsky; Porro, Danso, Van de Ven, Udogie; Palhinha, Bentancur; Kolo Muani, Gallagher, Tel; Richarlison. Subs: Bergvall, Bissouma, Dragusin, Gray, Maddison, Sarr, Spence, Vicario, Souza. Chelsea: Sanchez; Fofana, Acheampong, Hato, Cucurella; Andrey Santos, Caicedo; Palmer, Fernandez, Pedro Neto; Delap. Subs: Essugo, Chalobah, Derry, Garnacho, James, Jorgensen, Kavuma-MccQueen, Mheuka, Sarr. Referee: Stuart Attwell. VAR: John Brooks. Once again, we get a clown ref - we are sure to get screwed.
And Chelsea take the lead on some poor goalkeeping from Kinsky. Enzo from distance beats the lead-footed keeper who moved way too late. Poor from the Czech.
Acheampong falls over, blocks the ball with his arm, but the ref gives them the free-kick. This is a recording.
After a good build-up, Porro finds Muani in space on the right, but his cross sails into the stand. Sigh.
Glad I can't watch this, I think. Our forward options are really woeful, and none on the bench. Against Leeds Richy was gassed after 60 so I hope De Zerbi has some plan for that. Spence RW and Muani to the middle?
Chelsea have done nothing in the second half, but one giveway in midfield leads to their second. Maddison, Spence and Sarr on. Udogie, Palhinha and the useless Muani off.
FT 2-1. Once again, soft goals conceded, and a lack of quality and intensity are our undoing against a Chelsea side that were there for the taking. Kolo Muani and Mathys Tel are the worst two French players I have ever seen. We will need Leeds to get a result at Spam or we are going down. This team is dreadful.
Right before we scored, I had a half written post about how we would never score. The point stands though, with that front 3 coming back from 2-0 was a virtual impossibility. The player exodus, stay up or go down, needs to be extensive. It might be easier to list who should stay. And so the league gets their wish, a final day showdown.
Unless we get new owners, it won't matter. Rebuilding this club with competent owners would be a tall order, but possible. With the current owners, we are just delaying the inevitable.
I think the club is beyond salvaging at this point. The only hope is we get new owners. If this lot don't sell, relegation, whether it's to League 1 or the Championship, is inevitable. Too much damage has been done, and we have fallen well behind the top two/thirds of the division, to be relevant in a footballing sense.
Damn, that's bloody depressing entering the last and decisive day. Yeah, I get it, the best summary of the season was captured when VDV was brought down in the box and instead of a penalty, the ball returned to a corner, despite when VDV was brought down, the corner ball was one-thirds of the way in the air. I was asking for the VAR, but no VAR . . . again . . . a real let down . . . again.
