FT CHE 2-4 ARS Fvckin A... we actually did it!! Virtually nobody had us winning at The Bridge, myself squarely included. After a scintillating first half, where we played with oodles of confidence, effort, energy, desire... and a little bit of luck. We took 1pt into the dressing room at HT. And surprise, suprise the start of 2T wasn't much different. Eddie scored our 3rd and decisive goal And I for one would be willing to give him MOTM. After 70' the boss decided we'd park the bus, shut up shop, choose your metaphor. And we pulled that off too! AND we won our last game in hand! BIG KUDOS to Arteta and all the boys for a brilliant attitude and belief. Wenger is sitting in his parlor with a proud smile on his face. I'm putting this one onto DVD.
Hilarious game. Can't score worth a shit for a month, drop 4 at the Bridge on a series of calamitous defensive errors and a penalty that never was. Incredible.
Thank you to NBC. For once they stuck with our post-match celebrations for a few mins before switching over to the end of another match.
Got that spicy Azpi fan interaction too. Thought we were about to see some Cantona-esque stuff go down for a minute.
Yeah strange that none of the commentators said a word about that. Very odd interaction. The cameras should've been showing our boys.... who were definitely and deservedly CELELBRATING TO THE MAX (Odegaard jumping on Elneny's back was a nice moment)
Xhaka also did well. He played good with an actual DM next to him which we all knew. Happy for Eddie. I think he's a good striker as back up or EPL level. Let's not forget his england u21 record. Nice to see Holding. Did well. Tavares meh.
Not sure if mentioned but had we not shit the bed the prior 3 games we would be solidly in 3rd right now.
Agree with all that. Xhaka could be my runner up for MOTM. If Eddie stays I'd like him to be our 3rd striker next season, not 2nd. p.s. Odegaard also turned in a very good performance today. As did Saka & ESR. Even Elneny with limited involvement. Of the starters, maybe only Tavares & Ramsdale were truly subpar.
Had they won the previous three games we might not have seen the energy and drive they exhibited today. Now that they know what’s required for the remainder of the season, I think they have a legitimate chance of finishing in the top 4. Beat United on the weekend and the race for top 4 is probably down to Arsenal and Sp*rs.
Last word from me, for the evening anyway, is this: Our three goal scorers tonight were 20, 21 & 22 years old. Against an older, more veteran, Chelsea XI. This should give all of us a BIG
I also abstained from watching for fear of jinxing the result. Besides, a lot going on personally and professionally that have largely kept me from following this squad the last few weeks. That may be a minor blessing. And didn’t have any strong hopes for any points today. any hopes of UCL clearly depend on which Arsenal side shows up.
The future's so bright, as they say . . . Hopefully, we've figured out how to work around our missing pieces, at least well enough to leapfrog Tottenham and grab that last spot. Qualifying for Champions League with such a young squad and money to spend could make all the difference. We could be looking at one heck of a decade. I'm not kidding about that.
