Ambrosio has signed a three-year deal
Chelsea have completed the signing of Chievo's reserve goalkeeper Marco Ambrosio.

I wonder if we are still signing the Macho man?

In reality we don't have any more than normal.
Pidgely was given a 2 year extension-i read that on the official chat site-but is to be loaned out for the whole of next season.

That leaves us with the normal 3 keepers that everybody has.
Carlo being the #1 and Macho and Ambrosio having to duke it out for the #2 spot on the bench and reserve duty.

Nothing different really than last season when we had Carlo, Big Ed and Bosnich with Pidgely in the youth as Evans was out on loan.
Pretty good business actually as they have all been replaced for free.

    Evans

Why did we release Rhys Evans is the big question? Rhys Evans made his England U-21 debut the other night, although he got injured and taken off in the 49th minute. Evans, making his debut, hurt his back in his attempt to stop the shot, and he was replaced by West Ham's Stephen Bywater.

    Re: Evans

Birch said on CTV at the end of last week that Evans made "quite unreasonable" demands that could not be met.
He demanded a pay raise and a guaranteed spot of no lower than the bench on match day.
He has quite the opinion of himself i gather.

He is perhaps one of the first to realise that the days of players telling the club what the want in order for them to be around have ended.
In this new era of depressed markets and falling TV revenue the power is slowly shifting back to the club itself.Evans gave them the "i want or else" speech and Birch opted to take the "or else".

Agreed. Especially when it comes to GK's they can be promising for many many years, but Good Goalkeeping requires a bit more maturity. Lets see how good he is in 5 years time eh?

its nice to see the club stand up to a few a player who rates himself so highly. Lets not forget that he went on loan to Bristol Rovers, QPR, and Leyton Orient and did not seem to shake up many trees. It would have been nice to sell him and a few other youngsters for a profit but I suppose the easier option was to let him go.
