I couldn't believe my ears: I just called my local(Worcester) cable provider, Charter Comm., to upgrade my cable internet connection and ended up getting their combo digital-cable TV / internet pipeline package, ONLY because they just added FSW in their channel line-up! Strange; two months ago I called them to inquire about FSW and they said they had no plans in the near future to add it to their line-up. I mentioned this to the sales representative on the phone today and she said they just added it unexpectedly about 10 days ago! She said many customers called to cancel their cable subscription and move to a dish system only because of FSW, and so they had to add it quickly. So heads up to Worcester Charter cable customers wanting FSW. It's included(along with a few other sports channels) in their Sports Tier package, which is free if you subscribe to their Digital cable service. Not sure if it's available to the surrounding towns though.
I hope this means for my Charter also. They have FSWE but FSW also would be nice. Did your system have FSWE (espanol) before this change? I just called.. No FSW for us.. boo hoo..
yea i am in southern worcester county and i got 5 fox channels on Charter Digital Cable, my soccer needs are now satisfied.
I can't recall, but the current Sports Tier package includes: FSW, FSWE, ESPNews, FS(Atlantic), FS(Pacific), FS(Cental). And I got it just in time: FSW is showing the Everton v Middlesborough match today at 3:00 pm.
I just want to highlight this. Threatening to switch to satellite or suggesting you might switch back is very effective. Competiton is really heating up between cable and satellite, and they are really paying attention to what customers want. The more homes that get FSW, the more money they have to get/keep the top leagues. On behalf of all of us, keep calling if your cable company does not carry FSW.
Gah, I got pretty excited right then for a moment. I go to Holy Cross, and we obviously have Charter, but no chance to get digital cable there.
Speaking of FSW, SoccerLoop has reported there are rumors that FSW will show an MLS game every Saturday at a designated time. Has anyone else heard similar news from other sources?
General question... As long as FSW is being discussed, how good is coverage in Boston? I'm (95% certain) moving to Boston in August, and don't want to lose FSW!
Boston currently carries FSW....However, we are now Comcast which in the past has removed the channel... Personally think we'll be OK.
FSW is touting great success in the states and has recently released a promo that 'thanks' the US populace for making FSW such a success. Any broadband provider would be fools not to offer FSW, especially considering the growing, highly marketable US soccer demographic. Soccer mom will rule.
Those of you with FSW, if you can catch the Aston Villa v. Birmingham City game this week, the second half is very entertaining -- even bizarre. It's on a few more times this week.
One doesn't need a derby to enjoy them. Heh, they're probably 'pure entertainment' in the locker room, as well.
now cambridge does too. i just got comcast digital cable installed and it has fsw. watching an entertaining aberdeen/celtic game right now on the "celt" channel.
