To start, Euell better be in this game. Rumors are that maybe Curbs has kept Jason out because of some sort of bust up. Well, they better both get over it. Since the sale of SP, the Addicks have won only one match without Euell playing the full 90. There is no one to fill the hole behind the strikers. Jensen has played better. But we all know he has no speed and is not much defensively. If the choice is between Jensen and Euell, Euell should be on the pitch. My lineup would be: Kiely Young - Perry - Fortune - HH CR [sub - Kishishev] - Holland - Euell - JJ [sub - Thomas] DiCanio [sub - Jensen] Bartlett Go Addicks! Go Euell! Go Curbs!
BBC's Lawro predicts: Charlton 1 - 0 Aston Villa Changes to my lineup: Kiely Young Perry Fortune HH JJ Holland Euell Thomas DiCanio Barltett Curbs needs to give Thomas his chance. His speed and service can cause the defense some problems. Makes me think of young Renaldo at Man Utd.
It appears the Addicks will be without Hreidarsson tomorrow. The Daily Bulletin from The Valley reports that Curbs will not rush him back into the lineup after picking up a slight hamstring problem at Newcastle. So here is the possiblities: 1) Konchesky to leftback with Jensen moving to left wing and Euell, if health, to the center of midfield. 2) Chris Powell to make his first start of the season at leftback and Konchesky at left wing. 3) Same as #2 except Jensen on the left, if Euell returns, Konchesky then to the bench. All in all, injuries are just killing this club. There was one slight possiblity for tomorrow. Juan Pablo Angel may not be in the side because of South American WC qualifiying in the next few days. He said he's gotten permission to stay. Let's hope not.
So, with HH probably out [and this is exactly why Powell is still on the wage list]: Kiely Young Perry Fortune Powell JJ Holland Euell Thomas DiCanio Barlett Subs: Royce, Turner, Jensen, Kishishev, Cole I'm sure Konchesky will be somewhere in Curbs lineup, but I wouldn't even have him on the bench. He has been nothing more than a body filling space on the pitch. Thomas may be young and new, but he will make for some dynamic happenings on the left side.
Charlton were mostly outplayed yesterday. They scored an early goal against the run of play, before Villa turned it around to win 2-1. Claus Jensen missed a last minute penalty when he blasted it over the bar. Charlton usually end the season badly, so 12th looks a likely finishing position. That would be pity having played so well, this far into the season.
