Yeah, it's only Monday. But why not get it started.

Same lineup as Tottenham match with Bartlett back on. Keep it up Addicks!

This one will be on FSW, although tape delayed. [And I will have to tape it since I will not be able to listen. Work day at the church building.] It will be shown again on Sunday according to the schedule at this time. If it's a good match, we could see it a couple more times next week.

Man U isn't unbeatable. I would love a draw, but let's go for the victory!

    So, the lineup would be:

    Kiely

    Young, Perry, El K, HH

    Kishishev, Murphy, Holland

    JJ, Bartlett, Thomas

Subs: Andersen, Fortune, Jeffers, Euell, Rommedahl

Bring Rommedahl on for JJ. Jeffers on for Thomas. Euell for Murphy.

Can we beat them at Old Trafford? I think we can. But will we?

I think the only change you will see is Bartlett in for Lisbie. But Alan may think he shouldn't change a thing. Let's hope he leaves Lisbie back in London.

    Hoping for 1-1 draw.

somewhere there was a quote with curbs saying he had several players that won't be back until friday night, implying they would be unavailable on saturday at old trafford for a full 90.

will the game be shown on fsw? if so, what time? i was looking for it on the website but couldn't find it..

First, the game is on FSW live at 7:30AM Eastern/4:30AM Pacific. It will replay at 5:00PM Eastern and again on Sunday night at 9:00PM Eastern. The Chelsea game next week will be tape-delayed until 3:00PM Eastern/12:00PM Pacific.

Those not back on Friday would probably be Euell and Lisbie. Too bad I didn't have the day off today so I could drive down to Columbus and see them. Bet they'd be surprised to have an autograph hound from America knowing who they were. :p

I wonder if Rommedahl would be back from Georgia? Probably not until Friday, too.

The others who are gone are Bartlett, JJ and Kishishev. Those three would be missed based on the present formation. I hope Bartlett doesn't pick up another stupid injury playing for South Africa as he's done that plenty of times before.

If we see the same lineup with bartlett on for lisbie, i'd bring Rommedahl on for JJ, euell on for bartlett, and hughes for kish early to mid 2nd half if they all play a full int'l game and no one else gets booked.

can thomas go a full 90?

I think he can, but if we are ahead expect Konchesky to come in and close that area of the pitch down. I would love to see one of his big tackles on by Paul on Ronaldo as tries one too many stepovers. ;)

How would one find the history of Charlton against Manchester United?

I would especially be interested in the Addicks record at Old Trafford.

    Thanks in advance.

Jason Euell started on the bench for Jamaica against USA. Lisbie is not even on the bench.

Jason Euell played just the last 19 minutes of a 1-1 draw in the United States

Dennis Rommedahl was just an offside flag away from scoring the winning goal in Denmark's 2-2 draw in Georgia

Elsewhere two Addicks strikers made history in friendly games with Jonatan Johansson equalling Mark Kinsella's club record of international appearances and Shaun Bartlett becoming the first ever South African to score against Nigeria.

Johansson played the first 63 minutes of Finland's 1-0 defeat in Italy, winning his 33rd international cap since joining Charlton in 2000 and 60th in total.

Bartlett headed home his 29th international goal in a 2-1 win in the Nelson Mandela Challenge in Johannesburg.

Elsewhere Radostin Kishishev's Bulgaria drew 0-0 with Azerbaijan in a friendly in Baku.

Well, having looked at the BBC match preview, I now see that our Addicks have never won a Premiership game at Old Trafford. In fact, we have never won any Premiership match against the Red Devils.

It is time for that to change.

Lawro predicts Man Utd. 2 - 0 Charlton Athletic

    I predict Man Utd. 1 - 2 Charlton Athletic

Murphy gets one like he always seems to against Man U. Maybe Thomas or Bartlett or JJ get the other.

saturday morning dilemma: the match starts at 6:30 am local time, I have to leave at 8:00 am for a volunteer thing..

    so should I:

    a) watch the first half, record the second and watch when I get back
    b) record the whole thing
    c) skip the volunteer gig and watch the entire game
    d) hook directv to my car and watch while driving

if charlton is up, and i watch the first half i won't want to leave
if charlton is down, that will not be fun and i'll be upset all morning wondering what happened
i can't really do c since I'm doing the lesson plan
    d isn't feasible..

    Doug,

    D) Watch the first half while taping the whole thing.

Watch the first half no matter what. Go to your volunteer thing and come back to watch the second half on tape at your leisure. And wear your shirt the whole time. By the way, whose numbers did you get?

If you are prepared for another 4-0 loss and we aren't even down at the half, you should still be pleased to see us lose, draw, or win. Hey, it's going to be a great game no matter the result. We have found our form and our formation. And we have Danny Murphy. We will get at least one goal.

that does sound like the best plan..

the shirt i got was jeffers 11, a friend of the family's last name is jeffers so i chose 11. now that i think about it, it wasn't really worth the extra 20quid when i could've gotten an away shirt for 40 total.

    united 0 - charlton 2, JJ 35, Rommedahl 80.

I'm so corrupting these kids.. I'm doing a lesson plan on England.. so I'm printing out a map of the tube and have them plan a vacation day in London and the big tourist attractions (Of course including the valley!)

So now I can wear my shirt when the game is going on!

sorry for the non-relevant posting to the actual game.. but anyway.. recruiting some new international supporters.

Anything relating to life also relates to Charlton Athletic and vice versa, right?

That's what I thought. Too bad my wife doesn't understand. She thinks it's just a game. She doesn't understand it is life. Too bad she wouldn't read Fever Pitch. That might give her some insight.

Back to the match at hand.

Ruud out. Saha out. Rooney and Alan Smith in the attack. I think we can handle that. Get Danny a good free kick at about 43 minutes and go into the dressing room 1-0 at the half. Stave off an attack to begin the second half and see JJ knock home a winner in the 70th minute. Again hold off the attack. But, oh, Smith scores on a late header. The Addicks get their first Premiership victory at Old Trafford! Am I dreaming or what?

    Ruud trained today, btw.

And I hope that Danny Murphy gets the flu before tomorrow morning. ;)

Yeah, I saw that a little after I posted. Good for Ruud.

Looking forward to a good match. Red Devils looked good against Newcastle, yet the Magpies weren't apparently on their best form. Then again, we looked good against Norwich and we all know how the Canaries are tearing up the EPL.

Really, though, I am hoping for a good performance from the Addicks. I think they will give the Devils a game. We are on form and playing much better in our adjusted formation.

I still look to see a 2-1 scoreline. I think the Addicks will have the 2.

    Go Charlton Athletic!

I doubt if there is one United injury. Last year they listed all of these players that weren't even supposed to make the bench and they all played.

And did you notice that everyone one of their strikers has screwed Charlton one way or another. Van Nistelrooy scores boat loads against us. Saha has scored a few, drawn penalties and gotten poor Kiely sent off. Rooney has scored late to pull out a draws when we should have won. Smith kept Leeds from losing against us up there last season. All in all, each one of them have been a thorn in our sides.

    Well, hindsight is twenty-twenty.

The defend first and make the counter attack work, well, didn't. We created at least three chances to do something in the first half but each time JJ's first touch let the whole side down. We should have kept our attacking ways going instead of defending first and attacking on the odd chance it might actually work for us.

And I know this is just a big whine, but it is disgusting how the "BIG" clubs get the calls just because they are BIG and not because they are good. Sorry, but the second goal should have never happened. Man U were offsides before the pass that lead to the goal.

Also, sorry, but tackling from behind is a yellow card. Several Red Devils should have been carded and Wes Brown should have been sent off for doing it more than twice to Jerome Thomas. That was just lousy refereeing.

Hey, even Chris Perry should have been carded in the first half for that foul on Ruud. It was from behind and Perry never touched the ball.

All in all, the Red Devils outplayed us. But that's mostly because we let them. We played scared. Scared to win. Scared to challenge for the ball. Just plain scared. You can never play that way and win.

Murphy -- stunk. Should have been off after 45. Completely ineffective. Bring on Euell then. Holland was invisible. Kishishev was about as good at Murphy.

Thomas was trying, but not getting much help from his mates or the ref. JJ had no touch and should have also been off after 45. Bring on Jeffers.
