Sweet! Good interview! His outlook is very very positive! I am not so worried anymore him, and good to see his gambian roots probably help him build that muscle and get in shape quick!
Could he get Sochaux to loan him to an NASL team or the like? What about Baltimore? That's near his doctors in Delaware as well. Sochaux would benefit from Davies getting into shape earlier, Baltimore would have a serious draw for two months, and Davies would get playing time.
I think you're being sarcastic...but I really don't see any benefit of loaning Charlie to a USL 2 team. Might as well loan him out to an above average college team. Neither one of which would prepare him for the World Cup better than the training he would get at Sochaux. Besides...if his optomistic timeline works out, he'll have two months to try and crack gameday rosters at Sochaux and potentially get some minutes. If Charlie is really pushing to get back in time for the World Cup, there is no way that he even accepts a loan move to USL 2 anyway. He's going to driven to earn his spot back with Sochaux.
Even if Charlie only gets minutes as a sub leading up to the WC and isn't fit to go 90 or even 60 minutes, it would be outstanding to have him able to come on as an offensive sub at about the 60 minute mark. Maybe do the reverse of qualifying, have Dempsey start out up top and then move into midfield when Davies comes on. Even if his timeline is optimistic I expect him to make the roster now as a super-sub if nothing else.
where in delaware is he....if it's closer to wilmington, the union franchise is a 10 minute drive away... closer to DC, united, although, i think a new franchsie might be willing to play him, more than an established one... let gooch and davies train with mls, and play.. but getting the permission from souchax and ac milan needs to happen
good luck getting permission from either side. milan acted like the usmnt robbed them after gooch was injured in the last game against the ticos. they're not going to let him play in the MLS and risk further injury. don't see it happening
Sochaux want him back and training there: I imagine if he's capable, he will be making appearances there just as soon as he would if loaned out. Sochaux doesn't have great depth up front. Another factor, Davies is still in the process of learning French, and he has 4.5 years left on his contract (though they probably hope to sell him for big € after a couple of more seasons).
Yeah they'll definitely want him back there finishing his rehab and training when he's ready to. They might really need him. They are 15th in the table and have 14 goals in 19 games. If he can make it back, they have 4 league games in May and could be fighting to stay up.
He plays in a French league. If he is healthy, he goes to the WC to play the English. The French will want him healthy.
I think he's saying that he needs to have full fitness by April, meaning he will be ready to start training with Sochaux again. Then he'll have two months to regain his match fitness. I think he's planning on starting to jog soon after the new year, and assuming the USMNT trainers have an AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill, that would be safe because he will be able to start running without taking the full pounding of his entire body weight. I wish him luck in his recovery. If there is anyone who could recover from injuries as catastrophic as the ones he sustained and still make it back in time for the World Cup, it would be him. But hey, even if he comes up a little short, that still puts him well on the road to recovery in time to play for Sochaux next season.
Whoa... it has a cockpit. http://alter-g.com/medical-injury-surgery-rehabilitation Only $499 a month!
Wouldn't it be simpler and less expensive to just use gel shoe insoles and inserts? And think of the Twitter potential!
both gooch and davies need to sleep in decompression chambers too... that'd aid their general fitness levels
