Is it true that former Irish International Terry Phelan of the Charleston Battery is in talks with the Metro Stars?

You can't have him. He is ours and doesn't want to leave.

He's 150 years old anyway, we don't want him.

He is "experienced" (36) and I don't think the Metros would want to use an international spot on him. But you could use an experienced defender right about now...

Still, Terry is one of the most dedicated and fit people I've ever seen. I watched him warm up by running about 10 laps around the pitch before playing a full match in the SC heat and humidity. He has schooled many young fowards and midfielders and likes to overlap on the wings. He plays like every game is a championship match.

I was a little skeptical when he joined the squad last year. I thought here's another ageing player that wants to bide his time while enjoying the states. But he has more than proved to me that he just loves the sport and wants to be playing it week in and week out, wheter it be for Ireland in the World Cup or in front of 4500 fans here in Charleston.
