    Charge v Beat [R]

I know it's early but there are some bad news for the Charge.

TEAM INJURY REPORTS AS OF 06/16/03
    ATLANTA BEAT: None.

PHILADELPHIA CHARGE: OUT - F Kelly Smith (R meniscus tear); F Deliah Arrington (R ACL tear); QUESTIONABLE - F Marinette Pichon (L thigh contusion); PROBABLE - M Pavlina Scasna (L foot tendonitis); M Erin Misaki (R groin strain).

Let's just hope everything clears up by Sunday.

I just dealt with one of those a week ago. Just do what I did. Take an extra five or ten minutes to warm up and then don't stop moving for the entire game and she'll be fine.

The complete inability to move my leg the day afterwards was a minor side effect though.

If Pichon is questionable, then if she plays in the All star match, she's healthy...

I wonder if this injury is an excuse to keep her fresh for Atlanta on Sunday...

she can go to Carolina, but NOT play, siting injury??

Is the club contractually obligated to send the player? If I were the PHL braintrust, I would cite Pichon's injury as an excuse. The weekend game is more important. Pay the fine instead.

I'm sure the bruise was from the collision early on with Branam ...

Pichon skipped a friendly for France against Germany in April, siting a cold...

just caught the esnp pesy soccer awards, with Katia winning in a run away, Luckenbill 2nd Pichon 3, and Prinz a distant 4...

wonder how many wusa teams would select katia over pichon and prinz??

also tullock took a blow to the head late against sd, and given her broken nose, let's she how atlanta attacks her..

oddly, I like the makinen match-up with parlow...

I only saw Atlanta against Carolina in the loss...the big question is Dominguez and Mitts, not letting her weave around the box....

the game will be very mental of sunday..alll about confidence..

right now, the Charge are confident..

basically the charge need to win 7 out of the last 11 to be in a position for playoff hunt...

I'd still say Boston, Atlanta, and DC notch 3 slots...

charge have an extra match, plus goal differential over NY...

charge have a home match still with SD...

    and two with carolina...

SJ recent slide raises the match of the charge at SJ as a hugely pivotal match...

    need point(s) there..more than likely...

root for draws amongst the bottom fighters for 4th..

Was Branam at fault on the Pichon injury? I was in the VIP section on the other end of the field and didn't tape the game.

Once we get the final injury report for the week, the picture will be a lot clearer. Unless Pichon is in a body cast, she has to start Sunday. We need her out there.

Looks like Pichon is a go for tomorrow...

Melissa confirmed last night that she was practicing this week; that is, when it wasn't raining, of course  .

Sawa will not be in the house, obviously, since she's got a more pressing engagement in Bangkok for the AFC tournament. Beat fans may be askairt of South Korea beating Japan, since that means they lose both Sawa and Dominguez for the playoff for the 16th and final WWC entry.

    WAR SOUTH KOREA, then.. :D

Ref: Todd Perry. Assistants: Corey Rockwell, Brian D'Amato. 4th Guy: Patrick Baker.

Misaki was downgraded to questionable in the league injury reports released this morning; Scasna and Tullock are probable. So if she sits tomorrow, who do you start?

    [R] within an [R]

Carolina won at Boston tonight, so the Charge have to win to keep from being in outright last place...

Everyone around us keeps winning, San Diego won right after it looked like we'd put a dent in their playoff hopes, then Carolina won again, and I've no doubt San Jose will now beat Washington....

I hope Stacey and Pichon are fit, if they are, then we'll beat the Beat :)

Dunno about that: Katia is suspended for this game (yellow card accumulation); Sissi, Pretinha, Lindsey and Alagich are all listed as questionable, and the 'Rays have, after the past 300-odd minutes of play and counting, exactly one goal to show for it. And they're at RFK towing a 3-game losing streak.

if the Charge injury reports are accurate, and not an attempt by Krikorian to sway Stone, then the Charge will NOT beat the BEAT...

No Pichon, and we see a replay of the inept offense when the Charge went to DC...
