Or, presenting the sequel to one of Spike Lee's earlier joints, "She's Gotta Have It". No Mac, no Fleeting for them. The same three for us. They're on a 7-game unbeaten streak. They have the future of the women's game. *We* gotta have it; a 'W'. It's been a dazzling plan to lull the league into such a false sense of security that it's worked even on us. That said, the salvaging operation that this season has become needs to begin here. I'd suggest you guys migrate to the Spirit forum for a PBP since it will be on out there on COX4 cable. Melissa has, IMO earned the start in goal. We all know what SD will try to do, what every team has done with spectacular (for them) success; try to shred the central defense. What is different for us from this game vs. the others which have preceded it is there is something that can be built on. Something positive. Stop Aly and you stop the Spirit. From her good things have flowed this year for them. Harass her, foul her, welcome her to the big leagues, or else she will slice and dice you alive. I'll leave it to you folks to do the formation. Leave McVeigh in it, since the coaching staff has decided that no matter what anyone says, she is in the thick of what they want to do and they will stick to it. But she is only one of their concerns. Did anyone else how much better we seemed to play without Makinen out there? Hopefully Coach K did, too. Paul

Codespeak, maybe? Coach K: "The next three games will tell us a lot about the season." Translation: The next 8 days will decide our season... ?? Paul
Here is some news that will no doubt make some Charge fans happy: "The Women's United Soccer Association Disciplinary Committee fined Atlanta Head Coach Tom Stone and forward Charmaine Hooper for making negative, public comments about the referee's decisions during the Saturday, May 31 match versus the San Diego Spirit at Torero Stadium. Stone has been fined $250 and Hooper has been -fined $200 for publicly criticizing the match's officiating."
Screw that; COX4 is showing the game on a tape delay at 1AM Sunday...their time, so 4AM eastern. Matchtracker it is, then. Paul
Good luck to the Charge. Watch out for Latham. She's a bull. In other words, a prototypical Canadian striker.
Sat Jun 07 06:00PM Pacific Sat Jun 07 07:00PM Mountain Sat Jun 07 08:00PM Central Sat Jun 07 09:00PM Eastern (COX) Channel 4 - San Diego (cable only) San Diego vs Philadelphia But that wouldn't be Same day delay
from what i've read namazi expects the charge to soak up the pressure and then hit them on the counter game... typical tactic used by a road team... so this would mean Burt and Pichon would be paired with Hoffmann in an attacking role... any one who's read my posts knows I've advocated 3-5-2 for this team all along... 3 central defenders with double d-mids in front, add benson and mitts on the wings... and I think we'd see really good counter play out of this team... as to the boycott of this forum... where are the WMD??
To prove I wasn't just blowing smoke: http://wusa.com/press_room/366084.html (scroll down to our game preview, it says 1AM Sunday on Cox4.) So we'll have a PBP here around 9:05PM. The usual deal; updates every 10 minutes or so, goals at once. Paul
Now it is a must-win (Pax [R]) Atlanta, once more, cannot solve the riddle of Carolina, and now the Charge have a golden, unexpected chance to draw closer to the final playoff spot. They've got to take care of business, everything else be damned... Paul
Well, Adam, I don't think you're supposed to post here since it's just Dennis M and Charge! I'll bite- what are WMD?
I hope the Charge win today, getting support to Pichon and closing down Wagner (like Paul said) is vital. I think the Spirit are vulnerable right now and last weeks game against Carolina was encouraging.
Even with the smiley, it's helpful to reiterate that no one is disencouraged from posting here. No one. Paul (9 out of the last 12 weekends now with rain, and 18 of the first 23 weeks of the year with that or snow - yeah, global warming indeed )
'Dog the Wag' will be beginning in oh, about an hour and a half; as in dogging Ms. Wagner from 0:01 to 93:00 Paul knock on wood, of course....
All of this joking. I did say "mostly". I should have added Adam but still I was close to being correct. Anyway, Oliver is usually correct with such a listing. In case nobody saw it yet. Fleeting scored five goals today for Scotland.
