Hi guys - I'm new to this Big Soccer thingy but those of you who are part of the Bulldog Supporters Group may know me as the only Palace fan in Denver. Anyway, please allow me to pass on a few tips from England, where we had no trouble getting 6000 Palace fans to sing the same tune at the same time at Hillsbrough (Sheffield Wed) last week. Rather than 'organising' supporters we have to remember that the beauty of football's terrace culture is that chants are spontaneous by nature and are often a reaction to events on the pitch / in the stadium. There are no rules over what is sung and when. However, I woiuld like to suggest a few simple guidlines for all people intent on making noise / creating atmosphere should follow: 1. If another chant is being sung, listen out to hear what it is and then join in! 2. Do not attempt to start a new chant if another one is already being sung. 3. Make an effort to learn the words to any new chants you hear - this can either be done at the game or by posting questions online. It sounds simple, but it only works if we all follow this.
FOLLOW We love you, we love you, we love you, and where you play we follow, we follow, we follow, 'cos we support the Rapids, the Rapids, the Rapids, and that's the way we like it, we like it, we like it. By the way, I agree with Rich the Eagle. I've been to a few QPR matches other international matches (Fiorentina, Fulham, Boca Juniors) and his suggestions are gold. That's what we need to work on especially though, not size, not new chants, but ORGANIZATION.
Surely this one deals with the Salt Lake inbreds? THE SALT LAKE FAMILY Your sister is your mother, your father is your brother, you all f*** one another, you're the Salt Lake family. So what chants are actually used at DSP? I've never been able to actually go to a match down there. When I watch the games you can't really hear anything from the crowd as far as what they are saying?
'Follow', 'Que Sera' & 'We Built Commerce City' have all be sung at matches on the supporters terrace. We have more to come & are building the terrace up from starting at the beginning of this season. Come join us - if you are in downtown Denver the Bulldog Supporters Group runs buses to DSGP & runs a tailgate or hosts pre-game drink up at the British Bulldog bar on Stout / Broadway. $30 (guest price) gets you a match ticket, bus ride & free beers at the tailgate / on the bus.
