McNaulty and others, fine sentiments on the elaborate songs with multiple verses. They never, ever, come off. You couldn't find 3 US supporters who could sing them on tune. Keep it short and simple. Anything but the robotic and mindless, USA, USA, USA!
Agreed. Would sound good too with the two parts for the first three lines and then everyone together for "he just might kill you"
I am a fan of American the Beautiful. We sang it at the T&T game of the Gold Cup in LA. Singing “America, America” nice and loud in the middle of the song was great. Though The Battle Hymn of the Republic is not bad, it is overused (ManU, and college football) and has no real specific mention of America or USA. Just my thoughts.
haha yeah, I realize that. But, choruses could work. Really, it came down to boredom and a moment of creativity. Just something fun to pass the time
BTW... if anyone wants an MP3 of the Gooch song it has been made available by the artist: http://www.purevolume.com/regionalmunicipality
I tried posting this earlier but it didn't go through. Bruce Channel- Hey Baby goes Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey- ayyy Baby! I want to know..... If you'd be my girl" I was thinking "HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY AYYY BABY.... WE ONLY KNOW .... HOW TO RULE THE WORLD!!!" follow that with a classic "There's ONLY ONE SUPER POWER!!" (guantanmera). What you think?
This is the song for us...no words, just hum the melody. We'll be too drunk to sing the lyrics anyways... The clip above is from O'Shea's Pub in Nurnberg. It was done in Montreal and in Ottawa.
a little off-topic but the best chant I've ever heard was when our HS hockey team played St. Thomas (an all-boys prep school) in the section final we chanted "Saus-age Par-ty!" haha best chant ever
The hockey reference made me think: Has anyone suggested hockey chants like the various "Sieve" chants?
One Superpower! There's only one Superpower! This has been done for several years now, but people should keep this song around, it's a good one.
The song doesn't go by two names - it's the same tune, completely different lyrics, two different songs.
Damn, that's catchy. We NEED to get the word out about this song. Someone print up words and pass them out at the next home USA friendly. And please feel free to post this again so we don't forget!!
Cmon We Have To Stop Steling Chants From The Mexicans And Other Countrys...Lets Just Make Up Our Own...!!!!!
i said this before and at first i didn't like it but the more i think of sam's army singing this the more i like it. only applicable when playing el tri. dos a cero dos a uno doesn't matter vaffanculo! especially if you could get it going with one group chanting the first line and another singing the second... i don't know. seems good to me.
You have gone to 3 different threads with the same stupid argument. Either you are aXenophobic or a simple Douche Bag. There is nothing wrong with using or letting others use certain chants/songs. do you get mad whe you hear a Hispanic singing Country or a WASP singing Shakira. Come on dude. didn't you watch Star Wars. Fear gives to Anger. anger gives to Hate.
You'll Never Walk Alone is a Rogers and Hammerstein (two dudes from New York City) song from some old musical back in the 30's or 40's. That doesn't stop Liverpool fans from making it their anthem. I see no reason why we should shy away from singing something created by foreigners either as long as everyone knows the words.
"Old Zach’s at Monterrey, Bring out your Santa Anner: For every time we raise a gun, Down goes a Mexicaner! "
If anyone is interested, there was a neat little segment today on football chants in this BBC radio 4 program: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/factual/wordofmouth.shtml Hit 'listen to the latest edition.' The segment begins 21 minutes into the show, and it's about six minutes long.
I'd definitely could sing this part. America, F*CK YEAH! Coming again, to save the mother ********ing day yeah, America, F*CK YEAH! Freedom is the only way yeah, Terrorist your game is through cause now you have to answer too, America, F*CK YEAH! So lick my butt, and suck on my balls, America, F*CK YEAH!
At the Gold Cup games at the HDC we sang the entire song. Tommy Mack, leader of the RS, printed out copies and passed them out. It worked and sounded pretty good, we just looked like a choir.
