Why did Sockers leave the ECNL? They have ECNL conference championships as recently as 2015 or so. I suppose they valued the DA more and went all in?
I understood that for some clubs it was a combination of 2 things. (1) ECNL costs and control of the ECNL by Lavers and Dames that made things difficult for Sockers - both being true. (2) If you want to be in the boys DA then your girls need to be in the girls DA. All being said - all clubs have issues - none of the clubs we have been with were perfect by any means. All we as parents have to do is keep our players happy and passionate about the sport. Sometimes that means hard changes and difficult lessons.
They already have a new location for the early Fall, but that doesn't affect ECNL or ECRL since that location wasn't specific to that. It was more for the lower level or RL level teams, mostly rampage families. We will be practicing in Elmhurst for our ECNL program next year. And Northbrook like usual.
Yes it has been impressive. Their next two ECNL clubs (2013 and 2014) are both steamrolling the state. The 2013s are going out to Utah this weekend so we'll see how we fare against more out of state competition.
Will be a great game when 13 Eclipse actually plays the Inter A team next year. in out of state competition, Inter certainly holding their own with some of the nations best. In a very good result at ECNL Phoenix they tied, while putting up 4 goals, against arguably the best team in the nation at 2013.
Hi, please know that a lot of parents (including eclipse parents) are in this forum. [edited by moderator]
Hi! I don't think I was speaking about your daughter. There must have been two girls who left Eclipse for Inter and or other teams recently if that's the case, because this story does not sound familiar to me. Take care!
I'll say that Eclipse story echoes others I've heard from folks, lots of movement among rosters to fill out half baked teams. Confusion and poor communication all around. 27 games is a lot if the player is playing 70-80% of the game, which is what I'd expect for a starter. It is significantly less, but equally burdensome, if the kid is only seeing 50-60% of game time.
Sorry you had to come on here and defend your daughter. It’s unfortunate how quickly these threads can spiral into speculation and gossip. People really need to learn some decorum. Gossiping about player movement, especially when it involves kids, just isn’t right. Everyone’s path in this sport is different, and those decisions are usually made with a lot more thought than outsiders realize. Also, just a gentle reminder to be cautious about sharing too much personal info online. Even with good intentions, doxxing yourself can invite unnecessary attention. This forum seriously needs to take a chill pill. Youth soccer isn’t supposed to be this dramatic. Let the kids play, support one another, and trust that development looks different for every player. Wishing your daughter the best at her new club, and everyone else, stop the gossip, it's embarrassing.
I deleted all the personal information, just to protect the poster's child and their family's anonymity. Play nice, everybody!
Could you please provide some clarification regarding the search for a guest goalie for the upcoming trip to Utah this weekend, especially considering the existing goalies within Eclipse? I am also curious about the opportunities available within the club. While it has been noted that the 2014 and 2013 teams appear to receive more attention, I would appreciate understanding the reasoning behind this observation. Additionally, I am interested in learning about our participation in the Jefferson Cup and the performance of the 2013 Girls team. Furthermore, given the team's success in Illinois, I wonder why the team has been placed in the last bracket for the Utah tournament, as participating in a higher bracket might offer a greater challenge and prove that they are known as a team and not individuals and of course #1.
Snipped the part that just seems provocative - but this above doesn't seem to be accurate by looking at the schedule. Here's the link. U12G only has a single division, with 5 separate brackets. All of them feed into the same playoffs, and leading to a single champion. Where are you seeing that they are put in a lower bracket than other teams? Here are the brackets as they sit: And here are all of the teams if they are lumped together: Eclipse 2013 is expected to do pretty well - but should face strong competition from a variety of clubs, including Lou Fusz and Sporting.
You are correct - that is how supercopa runs their events. There might be some subjective seedings involved but they try to make the initial brackets roughly equal in strength with each other and theoretically any team from any bracket could make the finals.
The search for a guest goalie is because the main goalie was not available to go as were several other players. I don't know how SuperCopa decided their brackets, unfortunately. It should be a great tournament!
There is no club in the state of Illinois that plays GA on girls side and only NPL on boys side. Sockers GA/MLS Next FC United GA/MLS Next Galaxy GA/MLS Next 2 Central Ilinois United GA/USYS.
Not sure what you mean. It had already happened, just as laid out. It wasn't a future prediction - it's what the club decided to do and informed their members. They will be playing in the new divisions as described. On the girls side they already have teams in RL Norcal (as well as GA), and will move exclusively to RL as they phase out GA. MLS2 starts in earnest next season. Seems more like a lack of reading comprehension. Not an IL club, which should be clear by just what you've described.
Apologies, mistyped. Meant to say ECNL (not MLS2) starts in earnest next season, as in the original post.
You have to appreciate Eclipse's commitment to deprioritizing the boys compared to the girls. At the Super Copa Plus, both their 2013 Pre ECNL teams are there. They put the girls on Veo Live while the boys played two games with zero effort. It has the exact location, same club, different game times, and zero effort. In fact, I'm pretty sure the 2013 boys or any boys teams have not had any games on their Veo Live all year.
Your overall point seems valid (much more attention paid on the Girls side than Boys side for Eclipse), but typically Veo Live is just managed by one of the parents on the team who is into it. Seems that's the case for both of the girls teams - but someone hasn't been voluntold to do it for as many of the boys games. Looks like 2013G Pre-ECNL went 2-0 so far. Other 2-0 teams include Lou Fusz, Whitfield, Hawaii Rush, and Solar Orozco. Good luck for the rest of the weekend! All of SuperCopa is up on BallerTV (link) if any families are looking for a live feed of games.
Hawaii Rush 2013G now remains the only 3-0 in pool play; Eclipse went 2-0-1. Eclipse is tied for 2nd (of 18) in points.
I'm pretty sure the boy parents haven't even been offered the chance. It was in the contract and veos just don't show up at their games. Charge the boy parents $40 through ballertv even though the club owns it, but let the girls slide. Its just par for the course and why the boys are a joke on the local scene. Go check their rankings within the state. Its all related.
