Lots of kids getting International call ups. I have an ‘04 (in college now) and an ‘09 and I can’t remember any ‘04s getting called up to International events. How does this even work? Do the parents reach out to the country? I am a dual citizen but my daughter isn’t - well, yet anyway.

My understanding is that each country is a bit different, you’d have to check. Most require that you are born in the country or have at least one parent born in the country you are representing. Some countries have some exceptions related to grandparents.

I'll put this here since Milwaukee is close to Chicago.

North Shore United was just accepted in the Girls Academy today. Aaaaand that is a big head scratcher.

North Shore United shares the same area as FC Wisconsin and has been bleeding girls to FC and ECNL as many have wanted more than USYS was providing.

The real confusing thing is though, Elm Brook certainly applied, and while they are a bit closer to Wave, Elm Brook is far far better a program than North Shore and it looks like they got told no. Up here this is both a little bit of a shock, and doesn't move the needle at all.

The GA added damn near 20 teams this spring. Some are ok, but some are really shit as well. The team they added from Michigan a couple days ago left the RL and was one of the worst teams i had seen.

Not sure what their specific strategy is. But if it was to add as many teams as possible, then they will also go the way of USYS much sooner than expected. I remember being told the GA will be fine, they'll just keep going down further and further to find teams. North Shore United fits that statement.

Yes - it does look like Elmbrook would be slightly stronger (they show girls top teams 0.8 goals higher on average), but NSU looks to be 4th strongest in state, out of 17 clubs with a full range of team ages. You're right - by team performance alone, it wouldn't make sense to accept NSU and reject Elmbrook, but there has got to be some additional criteria being used.

Here are the results of Elmbrook vs NSU in E64 girls. NSU is objectively the better choice but perhaps the proximity to Wave and ability to compete with FCW made a difference? IMG_5825.jpg IMG_5825.jpg

If this was a strict NSU vs EBU debate, I still don't think it's close.

EBU has facilities, and success. Just found it interesting, I know EBU parents are not happy right now. NSU does bookend the GA on the northern side of Milwaukee, while SC Wave has the southern end.

Check that - EBU is the objectively better choice. Just mistyped that.

I thought SC Wave was located in Waukesha?

    Headquarters were moved to Franklin.

It was SC Waukesha, then Wave bought them and made them SC Wave. Along with the purchase came a move to Franklin where the owner of Wave also owns the Rock complex and runs things out of there.

Sounds like Southern Wisconsin is going through what Chicagoland went through years ago.

OK, that would make sense. Do they hold their practices and games there? I haven't seen any soccer fields on that property.

Games for Wave are either in Wales, WI at Kettle Moraine High School or Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee. Wave has a partnership with Milwaukee Kickers.

So for the past 3 years after Wave bought SC Waukesha, they would play games at the Rock complex on the baseball fields (which are field turf).

But after the "partnership" with Kickers, Wave just basically use those facilities now for pretty much everything other than a couple games here and there.

Lots of things going on with Wave these days, it's a giant shit show behind the scenes according to a couple parents I talked to today.

The director of Wave was unofficially asked his opinion of which club would be better for the GA. Elm Brook or North Shore. He went pretty hard against Elm Brook citing location and talent. Apparently he knew how good EBU actually are (what we can all see btw) and didn't want them that close to his club and didn't want to deal with them in league play. Pushed for NSU.

The real kicker here is he and the president of Wave have a fractured relationship, and the director has left yesterday because of that relationship and because of general parents complaining.... And he went to....... wait for it ..... Director at Elm Brook with the agreement not to poach any kids.

Yes this is all very dumb drama, no this doesn't affect my kid which is why I can watch in peace from a distance. Yes this directly affects multiple multiple people I know. Sucks for them. Our director at FC has had a very busy phone this week. Just nuts.

I've been very curious about that partnership. I know they were supposed to offer Wave opportunities to Kickers players, but I haven't seen or heard anything about that.

Oh wow, that explains Wave announcing their new director today. Crazy stuff.

I had heard that SC Wave Greendale was a shit show, but didn't realize the parent club was the same way.

Thanks for all the good info!

Lots of news up in Wisconsin, but make in the northern IL. Looks like FCU just announced a purchase of a giant 92K sq ft practice facility. Their parent organization must not be suffering too badly.

I can’t believe no one had any comments on what you said. That’s pretty big news. Does any other club have access to facilities like that, except Rockford?

tryouts are around the corner. Are there any big changes happening on the girls HS side? I heard there’s a shake up at Inter with Evo players joining. Is Eclipse able to field teams next year? Anything exciting or surprising happening with the HS teams this spring?

It will be interesting to see how much FC United's tuition goes up after purchasing that facility. FCU already has one of the highest tuitions in this area.
For HS girls, I hear Eclipse is just accepting anybody and everybody at this point. Their Select teams are already loaded with talent so new players that are being accepted will likely fill in the RL team. Out of the ECNL/GA teams, looks like Inter and Galaxy are the ones gaining momentum.

    I am hearing similar things.

It is also appearing harder for clubs to “stack” teams. Maybe it works for a year or so, but players are now appearing more inclined to seek opportunities where they can start and get more playing time, even if it means moving between ECNL or GA teams.

North Shore Sportscenter is located at 1900 Old Willow Rd, Northbrook. It's the former Athletico sports center.

Looks like lots of movement in the Chicagoland GA and ECNL scene with players moving to Rockford Raptors and Chicago Inter ECNL. I also heard a rumor that Ian B at SC Wave got into some hot water with the club and is spinning off to start his own club.

Does any regional girls league not have a team based out of Chicago proper? Got some news and need to do some process of elimination.

    Answering my own question:

    GA - 0
    ECNL Heartland - 0
Is NPL/NISL regional? TST, House etc.

Depending on where you are located, Northwest Indiana Lions is out of Crown Point and they play ECNL RL.
