Another big issue is coaches with multiple teams. I know for Club v club, all teams travel same weekend to play. easy to plan. But for the rest, if you have a coach doing CvC and first div, he won't have the weekends for travel to tow different locations.
True - but that would have been an issue pre-COVID anyway....on Portage - the games don't need to be there....our team has a whole schedule with our MI group opponents and the Sept games were all set for South Bend....but then the MWC didn't approve it (even though the teams did). We'll see what happens now...
I understand at least one club is challenged with that. I really hope something like that (one club) can impact others from play.
My understanding of the IHSA rules are that girls can participate on a boys team if the sports is not offered for girls i.e. football, wrestling.
love this idea, but doubt one can do it. Plenty of girls could keep up with HS boys (and in some cases surpass them) but this would create a Pandora’s box that would make youth soccer craziness pale relative to it.
So many moving parts on this one - need to keep an eye on whether MWC has a Fall and if so will they also have a Spring for HS kids.
It has nothing to do with the location. When IL said we could play out of state, the MWC refused to put IL first div teams back in the regular, multi-state first divisions (even though they did so for Premier I and II). And they didn't even give a reason...
Okay so here is an update. Our club survey was not sent out as a result of MWC. It would appear they are not willing to host any games at this point. Apparently we are surveying parents in order to schedule games with other clubs and teams outside Illinois - that could include some Illinois teams. I spoke with a Raptors parent and FM is doing the same for their teams as well. So yeah - looks like MWC and USYS just took a giant shit in the bed and has once again proven that it's all about $$$ and not about youth soccer.
That's what I feared...so now our clubs are all left to schedule games on their own....will insurance cover these since they aren't part of a league? IF IYSA gives to permission to travel, it will, right?
Off subject here, but does anyone know anything/ or anyone participating in Northern Illinois Select?
My kid was selected for 04/03. Not to brag but relatively speaking this was the best group I saw I'd all the h.s. groups. My kid is stoked to train with an overall high level group. Not sure how other parents feel but it seems very difficult for kids to move up within their club pool, getting typecasted. Hoping working with different coaches with no club narrative can be a boost for him. I think this could be said for many that made it.
MLS Next was a cool opening presentation. Season Starts in 5 days. Cool. Cool. What about the rest of the club? Gonna just play across the boarder "unofficially". At least I can get an answer. Over a month and nothing on whats going on. Come to the pods, come to the Google classrooms, we'll tell you a day before anything. No surprise we've lost so.many.
Anyone see the posting by IYSA today for "mask on so we can play on"? http://illinoisyouthsoccer.org/mask...4PqJZ4wC8xYh-7onXQpdsxreUcuLDO-L3oKkcWs5pAAgU I wonder if IYSA is making any headway with the state. They seem to be making the case for allowing the state cup, but perhaps the kids will have to wear a mask like in Michigan.
This is positive news no? https://www.ihsa.org/News-Media/Ann...o-game-per-week-limit-lengthens-summer-season
I think they’re actually making the case that if everyone would follow the guidelines and wear a mask in public, we could get the numbers down to a place where we can have games in Illinois. Of course, we can always keep having games in Indiana... Where, apparently, they’ve figured out that playing soccer outdoors is not a problem.
No way IYSA gets off their ass for league play. They've already refused to do so for anything less their exclusive programs.
I noticed that there are several coaches that are not listed at Sockers (AG, JN, etc...). Did they leave and where might have they gone?
Doesn’t sound like the Governor is changing his opinions anytime soon based on this mornings press conference
Played girls Club v Club in Portage. So stupid we have to travel that distance, but I'm just happy the kids get to play. It's the only thing my daughter looks forward to.
