Wow. Can you share whatever it is you're smoking? Because maybe then this might actually make sense... This definitely wins the BigSoccer awards for most conclusions jumped to, least factual information, and most generally dumbfounding post ever. Congratulations. And on that note, I'm voting to change the name of this thread to "Delusional Landscapes - Chicagoland". Moderators, do your thing.
Wait, you support the WNT but you rip these players for making their own career decisions? I call BS. News flash: they don't care about what you think they should do. They're some of the best in the world and more than capable of making their own choices. And some man you are judging a 14 year old too. Seriously go F yourself. I hope to god you don't coach in the landscape because you're the last person that should have influence over kids with this sh*tty take.
You won't get an answer. Rudy and Ryan are very good at taking just about everything here as being related to Sockers... these USSF criticisms were pointed at them because they have been in lockstep defending the USSF in every way. But when challenged, as usual devolves into asking butwaddabout questions related to Eclipse rather than just answering topics related to USSF.
Heard new kids going to Eclipse are asked to first try out in OB first - even when they express a clear interest in NB only. I wonder why that may be?
This is a very puerile response on your part. Not only are you triggered and frustrated, your syntax is horrible. You are no one to judge the validity of an argument because you spent very little time considering what I actually wrote, and even less time formulating an appropriate, productive reply. Good day.
This couldn’t be more off base. But arguing the point with you seems to make as much sense as licking a pole laced with COVID-19.
I'm asking you/Rudy to explain why youth soccer in this country, especially on the female side, should take any guidance from an organization that is so disrespectful of women and that has failed so miserably and for so long in everything it does other than selecting great female athletes that go out and win World Cups. Ryan/Rudy as someone (or maybe two) who believe passionately in USSF's vision and efforts ("and that's cool "), I'd like to know how leaders within GDA respond and reassure their members that USSF, and by extension GDA actually does care about the development of ALL female soccer players in this country, and not just the dozens that have the ability to distract the country from the total and absolute failure of USSF to develop world class male players. You want MarkM to tell you where his daughter may play and to defend a club that is a rival of yours. If you don't want to engage, that's fine, I hear there is plenty of amazing soccer to go watch at Olympic Park (and that's cool )... but stop with the deflection... or just say what you want to say about Rory and have at it.
Let me just start by saying I have no idea who Ryan is. He is not me. While I respect his opinions as much as anyone else, please don't assume his takes are mine. Ryan feel free to corroborate this. I don't support the federation in everything they do. I agree that they've mismanaged a variety of things but they're evolving, albeit VERY slowly. I feel there needs to be significant changes to the leadership and I'm hoping that the recent resignation will be a step in that direction. But no matter what I'll still support the crest because of what it stands for: my country. I support the DA because many of it's mandates coincide with my own philosophies (more training, longer season, coaching ed). I'll keep doing what I can to help players achieve their goals, not just in the DA but with my other teams too, regardless of what goes on in that house in the South Loop. Think of it like the current political state: you can think our boy Trump is an asshole and disagree with everything he does but it doesn't mean you should renounce your citizenship. You can still be a proud American. Just using it as a reference, we don't have to dive into politics here lol... I'll finish by saying that although I've tried to keep it cordial and show you respect, apologized for any perceived disrespect, thanked you for clarifying your earlier comments, and did my best to answer your questions with facts you continue to show little respect in return. This discussion has become toxic and I don't feel the need to continue it. Best of luck in your endeavors. Signing off.
I don't know Rudy. Have never spoken, DM'd, interacted with him. Ever. I'm sorry that he's gotten lumped in with me...the unabashed Sockers FC cheerleader on the board. But I'll tell you one thing, have been incredibly impressed that he's come on here as himself, was candid and elevated the dialogue imo. And with you Upper Left he was particularly kind/patient. Pity you couldn't return the favor. Or that you did for a time and chose not to continue. Wouldn't it be great if coaches from eclipse to FC United to all sorts of other clubs came on here in similar fashion? Would be incredible. But they won't... Wonder why... We were actually on a role there until you went off the rails. And MarkM... Gets on a high horse to demand RC do this and that and take on the federation....all from the comfort of his anonymity...hypocrite much? And Myxplpk .. I think you have the context well and good. That discussion has been covered on here ad nauseaum like so many. Seek and you shall find. I, too, am done with this asinine back and forth. Look forward to the posts that have something interesting to say/contribute.
If you go back and read my post more closely you'll see that I never demanded anything. I used the word "challenge." And I would never suggest that a coach take on the federation alone. I suggested a petition signed by many GDA coaches -- ideally dozens, if not hundreds. I think that would be a very powerful message to send to USSF, and a great show of support to WNT members. As for high horses, I refer you back to your many posts here in which you state how much more you know about the game than the vast number of soccer parents. You are living in a glass house, so don't throw rocks. Finally, on the anonymity front, you got me there. I'm just another parent fearful of retribution from youth coaches. Since you carry yourself as a soccer savant, you should understand all of the reasons for this.
Shame you guys ran a local chicago coach off by attacking him over national issues he has zero control over. Hate Sockers all you want but their coach came to the board. The others won't.
Well on a lighter note -relative age effect/birth year taken to the extreme. (no clue where this from) PSA: New All or Nothing on Brazilian National Team on Amazon Prime for those that might have some time on their hands in the coming weeks
Well this forum sure went down hill fast. Coach Rudy, thank you for your insight and professionalism. There were thoughtful opinions, not necessarily agreement, offered respectfully for a long time here. If we assume positive intent from everyone in this forum it can get back to where it was.
I’m already having soccer withdrawals. Surprised in the DA vs ECNL vs USSF debate that finally someone made reference to this spring and games being off Hope that May allows us to play but not sure how we get in state cup and for us midwest conference season in one month What if they rezone the teams to allow less travel in the Midwest conference. Are we going to see only friendlies played all spring ?
Shame? Really? There were very few attacks (if any) on Sockers by me. In fact more often than not I suggested that from what I know it is a well run club. R&R are the biggest supporters of USSF on here, who also happen be closely involved with Sockers and very happy to provide informercials for their club which included lengthy posts about the great work USSF is doing to advance youth soccer. Last week's actions by USSF leadership warranted a discussion as they exposed what a poorly-run morally-bankrupt organization they are. I was not attacking Sockers, couldn't care less about that club or any other club around here. Please don't preach to me about a self-promoting club coach coming on here and eventually being run-off when challenged about his devotion to an organization that has done more to hurt youth soccer than improve it.
Exactly, you attacked him over something ussf did. He didnt file the legal brief, but he took your vitriol over it. Cry to someone who cares, Sockers came to the table NOBODY else did.
Sockers did not come to the table. In every response Rudy clarified that his words were his thoughts. If anything he came in here to try to avoid Sockers specifically and focus on a bigger picture. No one was jammed. We're all adults here. I'll be frank and say I do not think any coaches should be here announcing who they are. This forum - so far, has been for parents to discuss good and bad. Some members here stifled themselves from conversations because they feel they cannot share opinions of their club which may be negative. That's not to say coaches should not be here but that when they come announced as Rudy did, they may find themselves on a fine line of expressing opinion vs defending who they represent. I am not surprised at all with the outcome. It's a discussion and I think Rudy should stick at it as he offers a different perspective.
Just want to be crystal clear here... the "organization" I'm referring to above is USSF. Sockers is a very solid club from what I can gather.
You people are high as eagle pussy. Taking out of both sides of your mouth and standing on the third side. No wonder clubs ignore the parents.
Wow, seems like you are qualified to add a lotta value to the USSF WNT debate. I'm sorry, what was your point?
Us people have managed 3000+ posts pretty well. Us parents (some of us coaches for many years), have contributed to a very informative and mostly civil thread. No one asked Rudy to leave - just provide clarity. I am sure if RD was here he'd be slammed for the ECNL Chicagoland mafia that the Eclipse run. Us parents pay the bills and we see issues. We have every right to hold people accountable. IMO the sooner coaches, clubs and the USSF realize this, the sooner the youth sport as a whole may get fixed.
I think everyone here needs to understand that with distance comes a little clarity. As someone who is long (4 years) removed from having a kid play club soccer, (though for openness I do run a club as a volunteer), everyone needs to understand that your experience with any given club is going to be very different to someone else's experience. For instance, we had a great experience with PN at TC and from everything I hear, he is a complete tool to others. For us he was wonderful, though having a star player helps I am sure. All this being said, RD is bad news, both on the field and off, no one should be disputing this if they have any experience with him, though even that I guess could come with a grain of salt as I hear he has mellowed since having kids.
Yes the perspective of a parent with a top player vs a bottom is completely different and parents should consider that when they discuss clubs that they have been part of IMO. A coach who was great to them may have been complete and total shit to another kid. This is NOT an uncommon thing.
