I have a huge (to me) problem now. I want the rules of reps be changed. I, who is non-native English speaker, can hang around within Asian forums only. I'd like to send my reps whenever I see great posts, but because of the rep rules, which says (not clearely I guess) I have to send them to more than 10 or 20 different other people before. I understand that this means to prevent sending reps to same user continuously. But. If there are so many, I don't mind, but in my state, it just means that I have to send 10 or 20 useless reps to someone in vain, before sending it to someone I really want to send on time. The number is too large for me. I really hope the system to reduce the number, to 5 or so. Or, at least to members who don't have much effect, like me. Please??

If someone has a negative reputation (where they have a red nipple instead of a green), then they can't give out points, so instead of receiving negative points, you get none at all.
I cannot believe that THE three blocks neg-repped me for this. Why? I wrote my problems now with just an idea of mine. I don't get why it deserves the neg rep. Now he pisses a Japanese off too.

I have a question regarding the rep system in general. Is it a board wide system, or can you remove the rep option from specified users? If you can effectively ban specified users from the system, then surely we could clamp down on those who abuse it and simply remove their toy from them.

That's an interesting thought. One question however. What exactly specifies "abuse" of the rep system? Is it someone who spreads abnormal amounts of neg rep? Someone who participates way too much in rep cliques?
Rep cliques and those who consistantly give people neg rep without merit. The former is fairly easy to detect and the latter can be done by the victim contacting a mod with some evidence.

I just neg repped a guy because he's a dickhead. Sort of a "Dickhead Lifetime Achievement Award". I'm certain he'll be along in a bit wailing like a little girl about the unfairness of it all. Isn't that how it works?
That would obviously be fine, as long as it doesn't turn into a vendetta were you constantly neg rep that member regardless. That is where the line would lie in my system. If you have a good reason for doing it, then there is no problem.
