6 of the eight teams for this summer's CWS tour in the us have been announced. So far, 3 of the six are english (manURE, liverpool, and dumpski (I mean chelski, sorry!) followed by as roma, celtic and bayern munich. There are two spots yet to be determined.

What are the chances that arsenal will be one of those teams? Is manURE afraid to let the gunners spoil their american dreams? I smell....p***Y!

Rick (442) works for the PR firm that works with Champions World, iirc. No Arsenal, right, Rick?

    Oh the irony.

The EPL will not be repped by it's champion in the "Champion's World Series".

Only second, third and fifth rates (if they're lucky!) need apply.

At least they have Milan and Celtic to carry the banner of "Champions". Living in Philly I'm torn between going to games with United and Chelsea for the sake of seeing good soccer, or boycotting them on principle.

Not much there for us folks in the west. Usually at least they have a game in LA.

Chelsea vs. Celtic in Seattle - it gives Abramovich a chance to talk to McCaw about selling the Vancouver Canucks to him . . . nice . . .

I understand that they were to be involved but that the Arsenal board decided that their players should help out with the construction of the new stadium. It's a combination of resource realocation and pre-season training. LOL

??? They haven't won the league since 1955, but they have won a few cups in the recent past, including the CWC.

Besides, being as the European Champions League lets in teams as low as 4th place from the Big Three, I don't think these guys are stretching the definition as far as is done there...

And I say this as an Arsenal fan as well. ;)

That's what I thought when Manure played Barca here in Philly last year. There were plenty of Barca fans, and non ManU fans, but the crowd was as pro-United as it gets. I heard the Adams "Eye-ore" chant all night in my Adams kit, and Liverpool people were abused as well. Unless its such a pro-Bayern crowd, you won't get what you're hoping.

Yeah, I almost got into a fight on the way out. I was wearing my FL8 shirt, when someone behind me said, "Nice shirt mate." We were all filing out, so I didn't turn around, I just said, "Thanks." He then said, "Freddie Ljungberg sucks my d**k!" I turned around and saw that he was wearing a ManUre shirt. I said, "That must be why you let him score on you so much." Almost immediately, I was surrounded by about ten drunken Mancs. My Barcelona-supporting friend ushered me away, so instead of being showered with punches, I was instead "treated" to choruses of "We've got our trophy back." I was tempted to counter, but my friend hustled me along.

We have a large ethnic German population in the Chicago area (Milwaukee too). They are very big about supporting Germany during the WCs. In fact, when the WC was in the US, Germany made its base in west suburban Hinsdale. Chicago had the opening match with Germany & Bolivia and also hosted Germany's first knockout round match against Belgium.

I think this could be a very split crowd. It will have quite the atmosphere.

In that case, perhaps I should come out to Chi-town instead of watching a game here in Philly, where both games will probably be pro United/Chelsea. **********ers!

    It sounds like a conspiracy!

Here me out. Many clubs come here to play and expose great football to new fans and many of these fans will see a player, club, or kit/crest that they like and they will become fans of that club. I think they are trying to block Arsenal from becoming what Merchandize Utd, Liverpool, Juve, Milan...HUGE on the world market.

They can't hold us down for too long. I'm predicting another Double, if not Treble!!! And THEN the fans will come racing to Arsenal...and why wouldn't they??? LOL.

    Gary,

Didn't know the Chicago Gunners were blessing those pigs with our presence? I can't cheer for either Man Utd or Bayern Munich.

But I would love to start some sh^t....lol. I wanna make some little gloryhunting teenager cry wearing his Man Utd kit....wink. Did I say that out loud? LOL.

The only Man Utd fans that I have EVER met in person that were cool were at Ginger's for the Portsmouth vs. Arsenal FA Cup match. They were older...meaning they have been supporters before the 90's, they were from England too, they really knew their football, and finally they thought Arsenal was the best side and that they would be supporting Arsenal in the CL now that Man Utd were out of it.
