    A few comments and AGGGHHHH!!!!!!

Yeah you ry having to go to one of the most boring cities on earth for the umpteenth time in the past 7 years!! No thanks.

I could do the "Americans and geography" thing here............I won't, but please look where Trondheim is before saying silly things like this. It's Norway, which is not next door and is one of the most expensive countries in Europe. Rosenborg also have one of the best home records in Europe in the CL and are not a pushover by any means. Prague and Scotland are a lot closer.

No team in Eastern Europe is easy. Ever. Rosenborg have a very good home record.

As already said this would not be easiest draw........

Turkey is NEVER easy. Plus a horrid place to watch football.

You forgot the TV pairings. In basic terms Man U and Liverpool will be in one of either A,B,C,D or E,F,G,H and Arsenal and Chelsea in the other. It is so that on a Tues two Eng teams play and on a Wed the other two play. The sam with Italian, French, Portuguese and Spanish pairings...........

    Easiest draw for the club:

Bremen or Benfica from Pot 2
Stuttgart or Sporting Lisbon from Pot 3
Slavia Prague or Rangers in Pot 4

Best draw for Travelling to!! (far more important)

Sevilla or Benfica or Bremen from Pot 2
Bucharest or Marseille from Pot 3
    Donesk from Pot 4

I knew I forgot something. So can Sevilla/AEK Athens spot be drawn with a Greek/Spanish team?

I know where Trondheim is, Mr Snobby Euro Boy. But I couldn't pickes Rangers there because I'd rather play Celtic and who wants to play in Prague again?

Ok, so I've looked at this site and it says that "the 32 remaining clubs are drawn into eight groups of four. Clubs from the same association will not be drawn into the same group" and, of course, we know that there will be 8 groups with each group comprised of 1 team from each pot. And we know that the 4 pots are determined by UEFA coefficients.

Now, here's my question. The same site also states that, after the groups are filled, then "a computer draw determines the final position of the teams within their group" and those teams will play according to this schedule:

    1st match day: 2 v 3 and 4 v. 1
    2nd match day 1 v. 2 and 3 v 4
    3rd match day 3 v. 1 and 2 v. 4
    4th match day 1 v. 3 and 4 v. 2
    5th match day 3 v. 2 and 1 v. 4
    6th match day 2 v. 1 and 4 v. 3

My question is: The computer draw referenced above, is it random or is it based upon UEFA rankings, as well? Does anyone know?

I believe it is once they are sorted into groups - it will be a completely random computerized system that allocates which team is team 1,2,3,4 - it will not be based on uefa coefficients. Teams from pot 1 don't automatically become team 1 etc.

And the draw is at 9:00 am pacific just to confirm.

I think you're probably right. I've looked and researched and I've just not been able to locate a definitive answer on that one way or the other. Guess we'll find out tomorrow!

Well I think both the club and evey fan would rather go to Prague than have to go back to Trondheim with their record at home..........but maybe I just have the needs of the club and fans in mind Mr Arrogant Doesn't Think Things Through American Boy

Nope they can't. The draw will take into account that and they won't be able to go into a pot with a Spanish or Greek team.

For selfish reasons, Rangers or celtic for several reasons.

    1. Its a short train ride for me although Rick will hate it because it is so far north. :D

    2. Bragging rights. All you hear up here is how "great" celtic and rangers are. Would love it if Arsenal smashed them up and down.

    3. The atmoshpere will be amazing.

    4. Have a chance to get rangers banned from Europe.

    5. I'm anti-old firm.

I guess I'm just dense or the notion that the numbers corresponded with rankings within the group just lodged itself into a corner of my brain and would not leave. Either way, I stand corrected.

Celtic are really not as good as people make them out to be. And my old man is a hoops fan, so I will probably be beaten for saying that.

Considering that they get routinely bitch slapped by MLS sides in their pre-season friendlies over here I agree with you.

Word. They looked dreadful vs. my beloved Chicago Fire. I am hoping Arsenal draw Shakhtar Donesk so Rick & Judy can tell us more stories about bad hotels in the Ukraine.

Luckily I said it was order of difficulty, not "order to spite Rick into making trips to places he doesn't want to go" :p

Less than an hour till the draw. Should have seen my wife's face when I told her I plan on going to all three away legs.

Needless to say, I'll be lucky to get to even one home leg after the lecture on our current money situation and the effect my Arsenal addiction is having on it.
