I don't think West Ham care a whit about this competition. Payet who is a great midfielder didn't play and of course their two strikers are out injured as well. Bilic only cares about how they do in the EPL.
Won't know until tomorrow. They are still playing qualifying matches tonight. Ajax will be a number one seed for the pool play so they cannot draw ManU or Internazionale.
Seedings for tomorrow's EL Drawing (Dutch teams cannot be drawn into the same group). Seeded Pot 1: Schalke, Zenit St Petersburg, Manchester United, Shakhtar Donetsk, Athletic Bilbao, Olympiakos, Villarreal, Ajax, Inter Milan, Fiorentina, Anderlecht, Viktoria Plzen Pot 2: AZ Alkmaar, Braga, Salzburg, AS Roma, Fenerbahce, Sparta Prague, PAOK, Steaua Bucharest, Genk, APOEL, Standard Liege, St Etienne Pot 3: Gent, Young Boys, Krasnodar, Rapid Vienna, Slovan Liberec, Celta Vigo, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Feyenoord, Austria Vienna, Mainz, FC Zurich, Southampton Pot 4: Panathinaikos, Sassuolo, FK Qarabag, FK Astana, Nice, Zorya Luhansk, Astra Giurgiu, Konyaspor, Osmanlispor, FK Qabala, Hapoel Beer-Sheva, Dundalk
Rostov is a good Russian team it kept CSKA on its toes till last minute for Russian title. Don't take them as weak, Ajax did the same thing and paid the price.
http://www.uefa.org/about-uefa/administration/communications/news/newsid=2398899.html One step closer to the super league. Why am I still wasting my time on this 'sport' I wonder.
Nobody watched the EL draw today????? I didn't either but here are the key groups for us: GROUP A Manchester United Fenerbahce Feyenoord Zorya Luhansk GROUP D Zenit St Petersburg AZ Alkmaar Maccabi Tel-Aviv Dundalk GROUP G Ajax Standard Liege Celta Vigo Panathinaikos Peter Bosz's head will roll if he doesn't qualify out of that group. Feynoord could ease through if they can handle the Turks. AZ should also progress as well. Let's hope for some coefficient points though maybe it really doesn't matter any more since the CL reorganizes.
Europa draws in full Group A: Manchester United, Fenerbahce, Feyenoord, Zorya Luhansk Group B: Olympiacos, Apoel Nicosia, Young Boys, Astana Group C: Anderlecht, St Etienne, Mainz, Qabala Group D: Zenit, AZ Alkmaar, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Dundalk Group E: Viktoria Plzen, Roma, Austria Vienna, Astra (not West Ham) Group F: Athletic Bilbao, Genk, Rapid Vienna, Sassulo Group G: Ajax, Standard Liege, Celta Vigo, Panathinaikos Group H: Shakhtar Donetsk, Braga, Gent, Konyaspor Group I: Schalke, Salzburg, Krasnodar, Nice Group J: Fiorentina, PAOK, Slovan Liberec, Qarabag, Group K: Internazionale, Sparta Prague, Southampton, Hapoel Beer Sheva Group L: Villarreal, Steaua Bucharest, Zurich, Osmanlispor Southampton, schalke and Fiorentina all have easy draws.pool A looks strongest. Feyenoord vs united.when was the last time they faced each other.
Coefficients will take historical success into account (for the big leagues at least). So the fact that ManUnited won something 50 years ago will give them a higher club coefficient. The right word for this is: rigged!
Feyenoord can beat Fenerbahce if they play like against Sevilla two years ago. , AZ is slightly favorite against Tel Aviv and Dundalk but let's be careful Ajax no need to expect something...
Absolutely right. I don't have an issue with giving the big leagues extra places but look how Portugal does every year. Three decent teams that perform well. Arguably, they have done much better than Italy (other than Juventus) in recent years. Now they will be limited to competing for 16 spots in the group stage. I don't know if UEFA will keep the separate track for small country leagues open the way it is now but say they do and limit that to 4 or 6. This further limits the available spots. I would much prefer to see the big leagues only given 2 group stage spots and the next eight leagues by coefficient one spot apiece and then let everyone else fight it out for the remaining places. UEFA are cowards once again and they are doing this because they worry about a break away effort by the big teams to form their own competition. May they all dwell in Dante's Inferno together.
We should start an internet action with a boycott on all sponsors that endorse this shit. Probably also boycott the CL all together.
Isn't van Praag going to be the next head of UEFA? We can start by boycotting Heineken beer which I never drink.
In this thread an analysis of how PSV opponent Rostov plays: http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads...group-stage-draw.2034777/page-4#post-34575784
Dutchies in CL and EL PSV- Athletico Madrid Real Madrid- Sporting Lisbon Tottenham vs Monaco Club Brugge – Leicester City Feyenoord vs Man United Southampton vs Sparta Prague Ajax- Panathinaikos AZ – Dundalk Fenerbache – Dorya Diks and Letscherts in both in the squad for Fiorentina and sassuolo but remains to be seen if they will get a start. Also klass Jan huntelaar who suffered a concussion vs Bayern could be doubt for schalke vs Nice.
Classic case of Big five country protecting another Big five cartel member. The rest of the world won't see this in the censored highlights of course.
Ajax and Feyenoord would do the same. Besides, Celtic has the crowd and exposure to offer. It would be a painful sight too to see Dutch clubs rock bottom They can only get better with a breakaway league. Of course there are syngergy effects too.
I'm really starting to hate UEFA. Why not just draw lots and give the CL cup to Barca, Madrid, Bayern or (insert random English club) every year?? Or just let those 4 clubs play it out, it makes very little difference. Why even bother let the little clubs play?? With the ref against them they stand ZERO chance 99 times out of 100. DISGUSTING!!!
