Goes was at fault on the second two goals. AZ totally collapsed in the last 15 minutes. I am always amazed at how many Brazilian players Shakhtar always seem to have on their team. It's also amazing that they keep a club together even though they have not played or trained in their home city for the past four years.

Bayern is impressive in Champions League this season.

    Oh shit.
AZ on Thursday in the return of the confrontation with Shakhtar Donetsk in the Conference League won't play in the strongest possible line-up. The Alkmaar team lost the first game in the quarter-finals 3-0 and coach Leeroy Echteld will give some players a rest, with a view to the cup final on Sunday against NEC. "The cup final is not more important, but you don't want to be in De Kuip with tired legs against NEC," said Echteld. Striker Troy Parrott is one of the players who will get a rest and start on the bench against Shakhtar Donetsk. Mexx Meerdink takes his place.

In other words we might as well not show up and thus give up these points and the coefficient points.

Yesterday's game between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich had only 405000 viewers (including digital).

That is the lowest ever for such a game. People don't care any more about the Champions League.

I expect the viewing figures for the World Cup will be low as well (2022WC was also lowest since 1986).

AZ should not be allowed to play in Europe next year. I hope they lose the cup this weekend, hit the playoffs and lose in the first round. Disgraceful starting lineup.

  10. Did you forget Fariola did the same last season in order to get the title?

Exactly. And it set an awful tone. I feel like this almost never works out for the best.

That was wrong as well! Teams should always go out to win every game.

'Don Danny' harshly tackled by English and Spanish media: 'A disgrace'
Danny Makkelie played a leading role in the Champions League match between Atlético Madrid and Arsenal on Wednesday. The Dutch referee would be wise to skip the English and Spanish newspapers for a day. "Maybe he's obsessed with Hancko
    ."

I already critizised his "performances" in the two Recent Feyenoord matches he reffed.
Two times he didnot give a red for fouling a player on his way to score a goal.

I didn't watch the match but did read someone's post-match report. That commentator didn't criticize Makkelie. He gave two PKs, one to each club, so the only goals were from PKs. The second Arse PK he gave, but VAR overruled him so I don't see what the issue is.

Knockout round footie is infamous for clubs depending on penalty kicks. Boring. In league play where the pressure of any given match is lessened due to the length of the season, I don't think the pressure to obtain a PK (= simulation?) is as high as in these high $$$ knockout rounds. Just MHO.

So, from reports I read about the CL match between PSC and Bayern, I'm getting the impression they did a cosplay of how Peter Bosz and Dick Schreuder play football.
All in the spirit of Johan Cruijff, just score one more than the opponent.

I believe this is the very definition of winning a soccer match… so yes, I am all for it :D:D

The Dutch NT may beg to differ as they are running low (quality- and quantity-wise) on the attackers… so they may have to go the Greece 2004 route. Tighten the defense so not to concede, and score 1 goal from a set piece or lucky bounce o_O Ugly, but it accomplishes the same purpose! Gulp.
