I wanted to pass along some information that may interest you. In a prior thread about Pat Onstad's arrival, Noah and I had a brief exchange about the possibility of TV coverage for the Champions' Cup games. I told Noah (and all of you, by extension) that last week, I had watched the first round match between Club America and CD F.A.S. of El Salvador. I was hopeful that this week they might carry the Quakes/Municipal game. Unfortunately, they are not. However, channel 48 (KSTS) will be televising the CSD Comunicaciones/Morelia match at 3:30pm on Saturday, 3/15. Since both the CA/FAS game last week and the Morelia match were carried by the Spanish channels that regularly televise the MFL, it is my guess that they may carry Champions' Cup games that involve MFL teams. If that is the case, we could see the Quakes and Toluca in the 2nd round...maybe even America and the Quakes in the 3rd round, if all falls right. I know it's not our beloved Quakes tomorrow but it is other teams in the tournament (possible future competition.) At the very least, it is soccer and it is a tournament in which the Quakes are involved. What's more, it suggests that there WILL be coverage of some of the Champions' Cup games, so keep an eye out! I have DirecTV and it comes with a search guide that will allow you to find any/all games that are scheduled to be shown. As of Thursday night, the CSD/Morelia match was not listed but it showed up tonight (Friday.) I will be more than happy to keep looking during the tournament and pass along whatever games I can find for those interested.
To those who are interested, the CSD Comunicaciones/Morelia game IS being televised. After 50' it is a scoreless tie. I don't imagine anyone really cares that much about the score but I wanted to let you know that we now have verification that this tournament is being televised. It seems the games involving MFL teams will be televised by either Telemundo or Azteca America. Check your listings!!!
