http://www.lagalaxy.com/blog/scoops/2012/07/16/report-chad-barrett-training-norwegian-club-vålerenga Best of luck on the trial and if he signs, but it's shocking to me that Valerenga would even be interested in a guy with 1 goal in 677 minutes of MLS play this season.
He should go to Australia where the toilette water drains in reverse, meaning that all his missed shots might actually go in the goal there.....
It's official. On loan for the rest of the season. http://www.lagalaxy.com/blog/post/2012/07/30/chad-barrett-loaned-norways-vålerenga
I'm surprised that he impressed enough. Good for him. Valerenga is currently 6th in the Norwegian Premier League (Tippeligaen) with 13 league matches left to play. They currently sit 13 points back of leaders Stromsgodset, but just 5 back of Rosenborg, who hold the final Europa League qualifying place. They have a few upcoming matches of note: August 5 - home against Manchester United August 25 - away to Molde (Josh Gatt, Sean Cunningham) September 23 - home against Honefoss (Steve Clark, Kenneth Di Vita Jensen) Also, his debut could potentially come this Friday at 7 p.m. in Norway (1 p.m. Eastern) against Haugesund. Best of luck to Chad in his Norwegian adventure.
Why the surprise? Brian West went from MLS fringe player to Norwegian League star, so it is possible Barrett will be useful even in the upper reaches of the Norwegian League.
Valenrenga is playing Man United on FSC this morning. Chad's not in the starting XI but I assume he's on the bench. I tuned in right after the match starting, so I didn't get a glimpse of the sub list.
He was involved in the first two goals of the game (his shot was rebounded in by his teammate for the first goal and he assisted on the second goal) as Vålerenga won 3-1 today -> http://www.socceroverthere.com/?p=9761
