So, assuming no forfeits: First Round has: 1 Aruba 2 Surinam 2 Antigua & Barbuda 1 US Virgin Islands 1 Netherlands Antilles 2 Dominica 1 St. Lucia Quarters: 1 Jamaica 1 Trinidad & Tobago 1 Netherlands Antilles I guess participation is a kinda "if you want to enter, you may" for the countries/clubs involved. Last year there were 2 Jamaican, 2 Surinam, 1 Trinidad & Tobago, 1 Antigua & Barbuda, 1 Saint-Martin, and 1 Montserrat. http://www.rsssf.com/tablesc/cacups05.html#cc
For those in the know, who should be favored to take the CFU title, Portmore United or North East Stars? Positive Vibes defeat Northern United in Caribbean Qualifying
Northern United Victory Earns Quarterfinal Berth The quarterfinals are now complete: First-legs (TBD) SV Robinhood (SUR) – North East Stars (TRI) Bassa FC (ATG) – SV Centro Social Deportivo Barber (ANT) Hoppers FC (ATG) – Portmore United FC (JAM) SV Victory Boys (ANT) – Northern United (LCA) Second-legs (TBD) North East Stars (TRI) – SV Robinhood (SUR) SV Centro Social Deportivo Barber (ANT) – Bassa FC (ATG) Portmore United FC (JAM) – Hoppers FC (ATG) Northern United (LCA) – SV Victory Boys (ANT) Go Robinhood!
Judging by national teams the winner should come from Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago. Unfortunately CONCACAF has not posted a bracket saying if North East Stars and Portmore United FC would meet in the semifinals or finals if both of them made it that far.
Portmore United and NE Stars will win their respective ties. Portmore has the easier matchup as opposed to Stars but I think both will prevail.
http://www.concacaf.com/view_article.asp?id=3201 Bassa & Centro Social Deportivo Barber tie first-leg of CFU Series 2 North East Stars withdrew.
Whoa...there goes one of the two favorites. Why did they do that? Only two more rounds - go Robinhood!
of course...but that doesn't change anything to the fact that Guatemala is still going to be sitting at home crying Anyone know why north east stars withdrew btw?
http://www.socawarriorssc.com/swonline/smf/index.php?topic=4984.msg38554#msg38554 says why North East Stars withdrew.
That is a sad state of affairs, it's not like the other participants have incredible funding either. If the funds are that limited for North East Stars the least they could have done is look into it earlier and allow the T&T runner-up to take their place. Oh well, Portmore United couldn't care less.
