Rd. 2 Fixtures Started today with all of the current CL1 sides playing away to the CL2 and amateur sides that progressed from Rd. 1. There were only two upsets today with amateur side Guangzhou Haoxin winning 5-3 in PKs after a scoreless draw over Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng and amateur side Shanghai Jiading winning 1-0 over Zhejiang Yiteng. Both of the amateur sides that won started in the qualifying round, so this was actually their 5th game. Shanghai Shenxin needed PKs to beat CL2 side Shenyang City. The fun continues tomorrow with 6 more games and then 1 more on Thursday.
More upsets today with CL2 sides Lijiang Jiayunhao, Chengdu Qianbao, and Hainan Seaman all advancing with wins over CL1 sides Qingdao Huanghai, Dalian Transcendence, and Shenzhen FC .
CAFL side Wuhan Hongxing continues their FA Cup dominance with a 1-0 "derby" win over Wuhan Zall! This is the same Wuhan side that advanced to the 3rd Round last year only to lose 8-7 on penalties to a CSL side.
Day 1 of Round 3 of the CFA Cup and two near upsets with Guanghou R&F advancing 4-3 on PKs to beat CL2 side Hainan Boying Seamen after a 1-1 draw and Hebei getting a PK goal late in stoppage time to win 1-0 over Amateur side Shanghai Jiading City Development.
Day 2 of Round 3 has some upsets finally. CL2 side Lijiang Jiayunhao advances 5-4 on PKs after a 1-1 draw over Yanbian, CL1 side Shanghai Shenxin 10-9 on PKs after 0-0 draw over Changchun, and CL1 side Tianjin Quanjian with a 4-0 win over Chongqing Lifan. Henan Jianye needed PKs to beat CL1 side Dalian Yifang after 2-2 draw. Shanghai Shenhua got to play at home for some reason and capitalized winning 5-0 over Qingdao Jonoon. Tianjin Teda, Jiangsu Suning, Shijiazhuang, Liaoning, Shandong Luneng, Shanghai SIPG, Guangzhou Evergrande, and Beijing Guoan were the other CSL sides that advanced with away wins over lower division sides.
Final Day of Round 3 has Hangzhou Greentown picking up a 1-0 win over amateur side Dalian Boyang. Round 4 begins last week of June.
1st day of Round 4. No upsets so far with Henan Jianye (CL2 side Lijiang Jiayunhao deferred playing at home for some reason), Jiangsu Suning, and Guangzhou Evergrande all winning their ties.
Upset today was CL1 side Tianjin Quanjian winning 3-1 over Liaoning Whowin. Guangzhou R&F, Hebei, Beijing Guoan, and Shanghai Shenhua also advanced.
1st Leg of the Final was yesterday in Guangzhou with an attendance of 48,562 and ended in a 1-1 draw.
Evergrande wins 2016 CFA Cup with a 2-2 draw, which puts them threw on away goals with a 3-3 aggregate. Attendance was 58,331 and the referee crew (except for 4O) was from Singapore, with the center ref being Jansen Foo.
