Belenenses signed CB Rodrigo Arroz from Flamengo. Not to be negative or anything, but he is known for jumping the advertisement signs by the goal right before a Flamengo goal to celebrate.

Looks like they will be going down. The club from Belem Lisboa is one of the oldest teams in Portugal. They won the league once in 1945/1946.Recent notable players from their academy are, Rolando(Porto), Pele(Portsmouth/Porto), Dady (Osasuna), Rubem Amorim(Benfica)

Relegated. However they may, once again, save themselves off the pitch, if clubs like Setubal and Amadora can't improve their financial situation.

I don't think Amadora will be allowed to go downwards especially unless they actually get relegated. Amadora is one of the teams in Portugal that actually produces/finds youth talent before shipping them off to the larger teams in Portugal.

    I mean, its pretty impressive.

Nani, Miguel, Andrade, Xavier, thats just off the top of my head.

Belenenses have managed to stay up again thanks to the morons at Amadora bankrupting the club. Os Belenenses must be the luckiest club in the Liga.

It's like fate itself won't allow these assholes to get relegated no matter what they do.

They have decent support, and they are a decent club.

Amadora, how they managed to bankrupt the club, after all the players they have produced, is rediculous. Looks like kids from that neighborhood are have to go down into the city now.

I agree that Belenenses is a good club overall with good support overall but their football section has been a farce for years. Despite their financial and support advantages this is the second time they've avoided relegation in 4 years thanks to the off field screw ups of other clubs. These guys should be relegated on general principle.

It's not like Belenenses is a significant draw these days. It seems like only the big three draw fans to stadiums anymore. The same 1200 are going to show up at Naval regardless if it's Belenenses or Portimonese.

Freddy Adu has been bought on loan for the year. You'd think a gifted kid like him would have a shot with SLB, after all they are giving Coentrao starts.

Staying in Belem will give Adu plenty of time to get acquainted with Pasteis de Nata.:D

Its a decent move. They have a pretty decent team in my opinion. Mano, Bastos, Wender, Fredy, Pele and now Adu. I think they should be able to finish mid table.

P.S: Mano played well against Braga I found.

Those of us who follow Adu just hope that he plays well enough to earn significant time on the pitch and to make a respectable contribution to the club.

I hear the manager wants him on the field so I'm sure he'll get his chances. In Portugal the highest you can expect for Belenenses to finish would be 7th or so it depends if the US coach looks at individual performance over team performance because a lot of guys get lost in the shuffle.

If this whole relagation drama happens again bc of financial problems. Instead of keeping one of the teams that r in the relegation zone why not let 3 teams come up instead. i think it looks a lot better for the league then to let a team stay bc of a none field related thing.
