    From the article:
"Why would I want to leave? It is fantastic here," Fabregas, who has endured a five-year wait for silverware with the Gunners, told the News of the World.
"It would be a dream to lift trophies for Arsenal. It has always been my wish.
"Afterwards you can always be attracted by something else, like a new objective, or new challenges because, for me, life is all about challenges.
"But my real challenge as captain of Arsenal is to bring this football club success.
"This is the biggest dream I can have. I want to end these five years without a trophy and, hopefully, I can do it this season."

This makes me think that he feels we have a good enough squad to win something soon, even this year. When we win a trophy, that will be a bittersweet day.
I just hope to God it's not the Micky Mouse cup....

Ah, so it's the Carling Cup and a Dear John letter. I see how it is, Cesc.

Better than him giving us the shaft and a fish sandwich.

We don't have a player that will ever be as good as him (Honestly I just don't see any) but I think if Ramsey stays injury free for the remainder of this season and the whole of next season I think we can maybe manage.

I really like Rambo, and what happened to him was horrible. I'm really hoping for him to get all the way back to form as well, I just don't know if he will be enough. Cesc when he is committed, gives us so much...

Rambo is no Cesc. He may become a decent player but the jury is out on him. The way things are going, Cesc won't have to worry about leaving anytime soon.

Which i don't know is a good or bad thing. I want to see our team achieve something (ala any trophies will do) and Cesc stays with us. Is it impossible to have both????:(

I'm sick of the Cesc transfer saga, and hope he leaves this summer.

But you also want the Arsenal to implode so you'll have more things to be pissed about, so what's new.

Woo hoo! Keeping players who have made it clear they want to leave is healthy for the team (especially when the want away is our captain)!

We are a top 4 side with Cesc, and if we fully reinvest his transfer fee, we will remain a top 4 side.

If we keep Cesc and buy 2 (TWO!) proven CL level players we're champions of Europe.

This team with Cesc is far better off.

We are league champions with Cesc and some smart additions, why would you want to stand still or go backwards?

To suggest that Wenger would reinvest even 3/4 of any transfer fee is pie in the sky. What about the Adebayor and Toure money when we were in a position to win the Premiership last year?

He does however need to shut his mouth about other teams playing style against us and about transfer questions posed to him.

Not when he is distracted and dying to leave.

We would be champion material with some smart additions every single season, and every season those additions don't come. We tend to make purchases for the first team only when we are absolutely forced to. We have been standing still for a few years, so granting Cesc his wish to return and replacing him with 2-3 players who actually want to be here will be a net positive in the long term.

We are never going to "go for it" in the transfer market. When we do sell Cesc, there will be too much internal pressure on Wenger to reinvest that in the team.

He won't shut up when it comes to his transfer, as he needs to open the door for his departure. The longer we prevent him from returning to Barca, the more distracted he will become, and it has already had an effect on his performance.

Ill just use one example of his worth this season. No way we beat Chelsea if he wasnt in the team that day. His positiong was top class and the deft lift he put on the ball for Walcott was different class, it dropped so softly for Theo, very few play makers who we could sign can replicate that little bit of class and weight on a straight ball like that.

The only net positive will be on our transfer spending when he leaves. We will sign some mediocre players who might turn into a Ljungberg or might turn into a Baptista and have the promise of Wilshere, Ramsey, Aneke etc coming through.

We will never be able to buy a world class player like Cesc so fighting to keep a talent like that should always be a priority.

Who knows how much it has effected him? You? Me?
I can easily counter by saying he had an abnormaly long season in 09/10 with WC duties and an injury which has persisted through this season and not allowed him to fully find fitness and sharpness.

It didnt work out too badly when Arsene wanted to keep Vieira.

I would love to keep Cesc for a few more seasons before his body starts to really break down. This summer isnt the right time for Arsenal to allow him to leave. When the time is right ill be happy to wish him well on his way.

This amateur psychologist bullshit is really tiresome. You're constantly telling us that the players don't care, and that Cesc is distracted.

But, really, what the hell do you know about any of that?

Quite the opposite. Unlike the majority of this board I don't have the emotional maturity of a chair, and therefore have the capacity to be a cynic and generally happy at the same time.

Judging a person on their actions, or following basic cause-effect relationships is not the most difficult thing in the world.

Don't you have some Uzbekistan U13 tournaments to watch?

The Patriots sure looked flat yesterday.

I guess they don't care, and Tom Brady must be daydreaming about a trade to his boyhood team in San Fran.
