According to La Opinion, Cerritos is out of the team and Nunez might be in. http://www.laopinion.com/deportes/?rkey=00030210190324677285
I sure hope not. I'd frankly rather see Rhine go than Cerritos. La Opinion is usually a good source though.
I don't think we can cut Cerritos if he's on IR. So we either have to trade him or sell him. Not sure either is likely. Rhine, on the other hand, is at least tradeable.
NuNEZ = GOOD Nunez is what Dallas needs, not injury ridden Cerritos, he hasnt kept his form from his past years at SJ Quakes. Nunez is a traditional play maker and that is exactly what the KREIS punch has been missing.... ( Love those 30 free kicks KREIS hits, gorgeous!!)
Where in that article does it say that Ronald has left the Burn? I ran it thru a translator and it doesnt say it in the translation...
I ran it through Alta Vista and it mentioned Cerritos as one of several Latin players not returning but I think they are wrong also because of the injury situation.
In the penultimate paragraph... "Junto a Valderrama, esta temporada se fueron de la MLS otros jugadores latinos como el colombiano Diego Serna, los salvadoreños Ronald Cerritos y Jorge “Zarco” Rodríguez; el ecuatoriano Ariel Graziani y el peruano Percy Olivares. " Which translates as... Along with Valderrama this season several latin american players have left MLS such as the colombian Diego Serna, the salvadorans Ronald Cerritos and Jorge "Zarco" Rodriguez, the ecuadorian Ariel Graziani and the peruvian Percy Olivares. There are a lot of ex-Burn players on that list.
if it's true it wasn't a good move. Cerritos was just integrating well into the Burn system. Who says Nunez will be what Graziani was in the end of 1999 like everyone is making him out to be. He could be a total flop. I say keep Cerritos.
I say keep every player that has ever worn the red and black and also keep every player that will wear the red and black. Keep everyone forever!
My understanding is that Cerritos is indeed in El Salvador and is still rehabbing his knee. Officially MLS does not allow teams to release players who are not fit to play who were injured in MLS play. However, I imagine he could be loaned out. Releasing Cerritos (or at least moving him) does give you more cap room. Also, I wouldn't call Nunez a playmaker at all. He's a brute of a finisher, strong, quick, explosive, a killer on counters or in the box. Not a withdrawn forward at all.
I think that Rhine is making the same amount of money that the team wants Cerritos to take. So they would clear about the same cap.
My understanding is....yes...with a club in Colombia (with whom he's supposed to end his career with). If anyone knows differently, please provide the correction. However, this does make the Colorado allocation (for El Pibe's "retirement") just a little whacky.
agreed about Colorado's allocation. Just curious but did the Burn get a Allocation for Kubic's retirement? Didn't we use it on Morrow? Also off topic, but will NE get an allocation for Peter Nowak's retirement?
We got Gbandi with the first draft pick. We go the first draft pick in the "Florida Teams" dispersal draft. We selected Tampa Bay's draft pick (#1 overall) instead of picking any of the players available. I don't think it had anything to do with Kubik.
Kubik's allocation got the Burn into the allocation draft (the round prior to the first round of the the dispersal draft). In the allocation draft, we picked the #1 overall pick. With the overall #1 pick the Burn grabbed Gbandi. So yes, Kubik's retirement led to an allocation which let to Gbandi.
