    Re: Miami MLS franchise

Screw Miami, they obviously aren't interested enough.

Get a team in Fort Lauderdale. That way fans that want to attend from Miami still can and it gives people further north (like me) a chance to attend regularly.

I don't mean to rain your parade, but you can petition, post, cry, whine, hold your breath, stop your feet, talk about the good old days with the Rowdies, Mutiny or even the Tampa Bay Bandits with Steve Spurrier. The ONLY 2 things that bring an MLS team to Tampa/Clearwater/Orlando/Miami/Ft.Lauderdale or any other berg are:

    # 1. A MAJOR player (person, corporation) who has the money to buy in AND run it on a PROFESSIONAL LEVEL. (unlike Horowitz)

    # 2. A SOCCER SPECIFIC STADIUM or the commitment to build on.

Thats it kids. Thats how the game is played by the big boys!

I'm not sure if an online petition will do much.

I'll see what I can do about a website... can't do anything with that though until I get back to Tampa on Wednesday night. Sorry.

The petition is good to see what kind of numbers we might have if we started organizing/meeting/etc.

I don't believe all this is for nothing... if an investor in the Tampa area sees fans organizing and wanting a team he might show some interest and go to MLS and get more info on it. If an investor sees no fan interest (i.e. demand) for a team then he could careless and invest in something else.

    FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

You don't GET a team. MLS doesn't just choose to PUT teams anywhere.

San Jose didn't GET a team, Lew Wolff paid for one, and is paying for a stadium.

Can't do fliers... maybe a student at USF or UT can get the fliers. I believe students have free printing from student government.

Although, I don't know if students will be in session by then. Just an idea.
