So OK, they have some preseason scrimmage and want a bunch of stupid Americans to fork over some dough. No problem. But I just got this email from Ticketbastard: LOWER LEVEL $40.00 - $125.00 UPPER LEVEL $30.00 CLUB LEVEL SEATING $60.00 - $125.00 Does this strike anybody else as ridiculous? You can live it up at a meaningful game in Crew stadium for a lot less than this and the game will actually mean something. These two teams full of hungover vacationers trying not to get hurt just isn't worth this kind of money.
People will pay. They played a similar game at Giants Stadium last year with similar ticket prices and it was pretty much sold out.
I would hope that we're not stupid enough to pay that much money for a game. Heck, $30 will get you a pretty decent seat at any other pro venue, but I'm not paying $30 to sit in the upper deck when I could go to a Crew game and spend $25 to sit in the front row.
Yeah but you can go to a Crew game any time you want...this kind of tour only happens once in a while, and unless you plan to go to Europe, there's no other way to see these teams in person. Browns stadium is fantastic...you can sit anywhere and feel like you are really close.
I wouldn't spend $10 bucks to watch two teams on vacation go through the motions in cleveland. Those prices are outrageous.
I'd maybe pay that much to see Manchester United against Real Madrid or similar teams. Blame the price hike on stadium rental, probably some "appearance fee" for the teams to play, plus probably some fee to the match promoter. Still, it is slightly obscene to pay that much for the teams to play. But, after the CL final, it may be worth it for fans of Euro football. I know it's worth it for supporters of Celtic and Milan.
40 is nothing to sit with celtic supporters for a match. And the quality no matter how bad will be better than what I'm seeing week in and week out domestically.
Would I drive 300 miles and pay $40 to watch Celtic play AC Milan in a totally meaningless exhibition nobody on either team cares a hoot about? No Of course, if that was Arsenal playing Rangers in a totally meaningless exhibition nobody on either team gave a hoot about, that would be different.
I'm considering flying the best part of 3000 miles and paying $40-50 american (£30-40) for a pre season friendly in which noone on either side gives two hoots. Part timers
Have tickets for this and the Milan/Barca match in DC gone on sale yet? I can't find the tix on TM or a thread about the ChampionsWorld Series. I'm just asking here hoping someone knows. Thx, Jay!
I'm afraid I'm going to need a little spoonfeeding on this one, because I just typed in a search for "soccer" between 7/23 and 7/30 on TM and the only match on the CWS tour that came up was the ManU/Club America match. Please direct me with the EXACT terms to type in to find this match. Thx, Jay!
Jay: Did a search for "Cleveland Browns Stadium" http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0...rtistid=862032&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=11
Thanks. I think the main problem is that I was accessing TM through AOL. The stadium one did not show up when I used it. Then I went straight to TM and did it again and it showed up. Go Figure. Thx, Jay!
