A few days away we will play host to a world class club and organization in Barcelona. Nou Camp might be missing Henry would would be a plus but honestly any one that laces up his boots to take his place will be just as big a threat. Barca is also missing Puyol as well and has been struggling as of late. Where as we seem to finnaly have gotten a kick in the pants from the new players brought in during the window. I expect to see both Samaras and Robson to see some game time probblay in the second half.

Celtic FC 2-0 Barcelona FC Leg 1

Barca is struggling in their league lately ... nevertheless, they are the clear favourite and will be tough to beat! I'd be content with a 1:0 or even a 0:0. Important is to avoid conceding a goal...

Let's hope we'll be able to replace Scott Brown and field a decent first-eleven!

    Good night.

the key to the game lies in aiden mcgeady.

if he keeps up the form he's in at the minute then he is virtually unplayable at times. he can put a serious dent in barca's defense. either by creating opportunities or winning free kicks in dangerous areas. he needs to be in top form to give us a chance of winning the first leg.

i think i'm right in saying that zambrotta, deco and puyol are all injured at the minute. henry as mentioned had a scare as well.

not a nice thing to say but all injuries will be greatfully received for the next few weeks.

btw the match isn't until the 20th :)

I can't see Celtic getting the better of Barca over two legs. I think a 1-0 win or a draw is doable for them at Parkhead but I think Barca will win by a couple of goals in Spain.

he's suspended for the first leg.

as for injuries to barca. it looks like oleguer is out for both legs.

lucky for him as aiden mcgeady would have ripped him to shreds.

we need a victory to take to camp nou. we need to have something to fight for, to defend.

ideally a victory with a clean sheet.

barca are having a mini striker problem at the minute and depending on how their injury situation looks on the 20th it could leave them short of options up front.

henry limped out of the 1-1 draw with sevilla at the weekend.

eto'o has came back from the ACN with a hamstring strain.

    messi hasn't scored since november.

ronaldinho is struggling for form and fitness and was once again slated for his performance against sevilla.

in their last 9 matches they have scored 1 goal or less apart from a 4-0 home win over relegation threatened murcia.

I don't know why, but I just have a good feeling.

Granted there will be no Brown (suspension), and Hinkel (cup-tied), but other than that we are on a roll.

I do believe Robson and Samaras will get a run out.

I'm not really sure, but here's a formation I'd like to see:

    Boruc
    Healthy RB McManus Caldwell Naylor
    Hartley Robson
    Naka McGeady
    McDonald JVoH

barca are struggling for goals but with hinkel being cup-tied the right back is going to be a key area for us.

caddis has done really well since coming into the team a few weeks ago but he's far too inexperienced for a match of this magnitude. i hear that mark wilson is back in training but he'll be nowhere near match ready.

does that mean WGS employs hartley at right back?

i'd prefer to see hartley in the midfield as a holding CM but i think he may have to play him at right back out of necessity. unless he goes for caddis. the only other option at right back is to put caldwell there and bring someone else into the CB spot. either o'dea or balde. i'd be loathe to see that happening though as caldwell has been playing well now he's back in his natural position.

if hartley goes to right back then it'll be donati/robson in the middle.

i agree about samaras. i definitely think he'll get a run out. i have an inkling that strachan will play him from the start on saturday at home to hearts to see what he can do rather than coming off the bench.

is pressley still available? i know hes in the scotland set-up now but i think hes still in our squad. i dont know who would be the best RB choice out of caldwell hartley and pressley but id think it would be better to keep people in position..robson doesnt have any UCL experience so maybe you could put hartley in CM and pressley or caldwell in CB and RB which ever you like. im saying something like....

    ---------------boruc--------------
    -caldwell-mcmanus-pressley-naylor
    --nakamura-donati-hartley-mcgeady
    --------hesselink-mcdonald--------

Greetings I am not trolling but I just want to give my take on the game Celtic is no pushover but I think on a skill level Barca holds too much each one of their players is talented in their own very way even some of their benche should give Celtic problems I'd say this would be a good game for Gudjohnsson to start cuase he tall and strong

    no worries.

everyone knows barca are big favourites to go through but they aren't playing too well at the minute and have a few injuries. at home we're a match for anyone and if we can get some sort of victory to take to camp nou then it'll be an interesting 2nd leg.

i do believe we can get a win at parkhead. my main concern about us is our right back position. midfield to front we can cause problems for anyone at the minute. mcgeady is capable of taking on the best full backs in europe right now.

eto'o has returned to barca carrying his thigh injury he sustained at the ACN. he won't play against zaragoza at the weekend and it's not sure at the minute if he'll be fit for the champions league match.

puyol seems to be making a speedy recovery from the muscle tear he picked up in the game against villarreal. there seems to be a good chance of him starting. i wonder how close to 100% match sharpness he'll be and if they'll line him up at right back, which would put him up against mcgeady.

I’m looking forward to this but I’m very nervous. Barça is a gigantic club with a ton of great players and I have massive respect for the whole organization. I think we have a chance in Paradise but in Catalonia who knows. I am really, really anxious for the first kick of the ball in this fixture.

If Aberdeen can put up a decent performance against Bayern, there is nothing to say Celtic can't do well against Barcelona. Okay, there is plenty to say it, but Celtic might do alright.

I'm proud of Aberdeen. Their last match or two wasn't a walk in the park and then they really should have had it against Bayern. Well done!

I think, Celtic can draw Barca or maybe even win by one goal at home, unfortunately I´m afraid, of what will happen in Barcelona! But let´s first send them back with a 1-0 or 2-1 and then cross fingers for the game in Spain...

I'm totally relaxed, as we don't have anything to lose (in contrast to Barca)!

Let's give them a tough fight and see what happens...

i'm not nervous but i am eagerly anticipating this match. i'm just glad to be going to parkhead again as it's been a while since we played at home. i find my thoughts drifting to the barca game more and more now but hopefully the players are more focused :p.

there is a job to do against hearts first but i can't wait for wednesday to roll round. i've taken tuesday, wednesday and thursday off work.

Just wanted to say good luck. Maybe you guys will be able to capitalize off our usually horrible away form. Then it's back to Camp Nou .
