What qualifies as a "ton of money" and how much did they actually spend? They talked big but part of that was to c*n, I mean persuade other prospective NASL owners that for a small investment they would make a ton of money. Remember this? It now looks like this, except emptier.
When the team almost folded they claimed they spent around $30 million and that's on players and "marketing". I'd consider that a "ton of money" especially for a D2 team, mind you they refused to pay $100 million to become NYC2 (NYCFC) so I don't know how much money they really had to begin with. I'd wager not nearly as much as they wanted people to believe.
