Tibo key as usual, and Tchou scored a cracker. Lot of hustle but clearly we lack ideas and as we’ve all mentioned the ball moves so damn slow around the pitch.

It's gonna be scary, if he plays, but you never know we may get the good on the ball Trent to help balance that out and help us to win regardless

I wonder why we have no plans to counter teams putting 3 defenders on Vini Jr. It happens almost every game, and that means there should be a free player elsewhere that we should be able to find.

We won't take advantage of it because we are incapable of moving the ball fast enough. Whenever we win it we play it back and the ball just moves from side to side for a good 5 mins before we lose it, wash, rinse, repeat. There is a reason why Huijsen is a sure starter and Pitarch loooks like Iniesta reincarnate next to these guys.

I wish AA could work with Valverde in order for him to develop that part of his game. He is so good and is just missing the creativity from his game.

    Checked score
    Checked big soccer.

We won. Very nice indeed given how we seem to have played for most parts. Looking forward to see the highlights tomorrow.

Anyway, hope Athletic do us a favour tomorrow.

Given how Arda always reacts when he comes off I went to see how he fared with the previous coach. He used to get around 60-70 min under him too. Why does he react like this now all of a sudden (although I would have taken off Brahim first instead of him definitely).

Lots of negatives in this game, but mostly the same as every week so let's look at the positives.

Thiago looks decent. He might look even better if Arbeloa doesn't play him at left mid. Just slot him next to Tchouameni.

Mendy was predictably tame going forward but at least provided some more solidity at the back.

    Courtois as always was majestic.

Tchouameni I thought had a great game on both sides of the ball, aside from losing his man on the goal - which was a big gaffe, but his general play was really good.

He saw Florentino and JAS reward such petulance before. :D But he's not close to superstar level so doing this won't work.

Interesting note in Arbeloa's post match interview, he says "Very happy with the personality, for the players that kept pushing, and for the players that decided to come today"

Are there any players that were doubtful and ended up not making the trip? Wonder if he's referring to Camavinga with that last part.

Must be him definitely or Alaba. The rest are either injured long term or suspended. Think alot of out players have played injured at some point this season.

Lots of players hugging Pintus. Think he has the players' support

I just watched the press conference. I don't really think he meant "come today" in terms of "show up at the stadium". To my ear, he's using "venir" to mean "to show up" (in terms of performance) or "to come out". He uses the same verb (venir) a sentence or two before to describe Celtic coming out and playing hard and basically he says "We all know how hard it is to play at this stadium, how Celta has been coming out (same verb) playing football with the confidence that they've been doing it." and then says that clearly he's happy with the game, "more than anything for the mindset of the players, that wanted to show up that wanted to fight, that wanted to overcome in difficult moments" Then he basically said "Those are players of Real Madrid and I have seen a lot of them."

I didn't take it as a slight on anyone not playing, just him praising the team's fight.

Güler can't throw a fit when he's substituted. He hasn't even kicked a can at Real Madrid yet.

Antonio Romero , on Cadena SER

He's a player with great footballing ability but little work rate off the ball. He didn't want to, there's no other explanation.

Rafa Alkorta , on Cadena SER.

Oof, why not just kick Mbappe in the balls throwing shade in the presser bout phony fake players that want a day off soon as things get thick and heavy.

Same old crap. Defence in shambles, no ideas upfront. Only positives are the castilla. Thiago looks good despite whatever the ******** we’re playing him. Palacios was most direct player I’ve seen in this midfield. Manuel Angel with a brilliant tackle on the winner. They gave effort. They may not been stars but they at least appreciate the shirt. The season was lost 2 weeks ago, might as well play these youngsters and see what we have. Need a clearance in the summer.

Btw there has got to be better players in Castilla then Asencio. He’s brutal. Not Madrid quality. Has heart but that’s not enough.

That free player is usually Brahim Diaz or Arda Guler. Both of whom can't score a goal to save their lives right now. They generate zero threat. Gonzalo Garcia also decided to stop being useful, so Arbeloa dropped him.

I've been saying this ad nauseam. He doesn't belong anywhere near the top 4 CBs for a squad like Real Madrid. Dude has muscle for brains and the only thing he is good for is speedy recoveries to try and cover mistakes from other idiots who can't pass vertically in this team.

He's playing with an injury. Remember how bad Rudiger looked when he played injured. I'd like to see how the defence fares next season when all of them are fit before judging them

Agree! I find it weird that he has started reacting like this everytime he gets subbed as if AA went back on his playing time. He is playing about as much now as he has for the whole season and much more than last season. If we get Paz back playing time is going to be even less if he plays like he does now.
