The Crew clawed back a result on the road (neat!). There is no reason that we should lose this match. We are DOOOOOOOMED. Fun Fact: Montreal has scored only six goals this season. One of those goals came against the Crew (and they were a couple tight VAR checks away from two more). Discuss. Bonus track.
More impressively the Clubfeet have allowed 16 goals, which isn't all that bad; Columbus has allowed 12, KFC 14 and MyMammy has let in 15. Yet they have a whopping -10 goal.diff. These guys couldn't score in a women's prison with a pocket stuffed full of pardons.
This is my brain thinking without reason, but I think Wilfried shoots to lay an ass whooping on Montreal. He had his own frustrations, then they fired Courtais, one of the few games he takes personally and the scoreline reflects it. 3-1 Crew with Lassi getting a goal. I know I'm making shit up, please yet me enjoy it.
It will be either 3-0 crew or 0-0 candian win. I hope they go for the win wednesday. Im of the opinion you go for the win against easy opponents and dont hold anything back even with a big game Saturday. Hate dropping points against a weak side due to rotation. Nancy has previously said that the third game in an English week is the troublesome one. So maybe the game vs concinnati isnt circled.
It’s interesting — Cincinnati is basically in the exact same situation we are this week: Midweek game, north of the border, against a sub-par Canadian team. Travel, customs and whatnot — just before Hell Is Real. So no real advantage for either team there, other than the obvious home field one. I do find it a little disappointing that MLS schedules a slate full of midweek games on the Wednesday before Rivalry Week. Why wouldn’t you want teams to be able to have a full week to prepare for the most promotable matches of the clubs’ seasons? Anyway… I actually wouldn’t mind some rotation on Wednesday. The Cincy game is obviously the more important one, both in terms of morale and the standings, and Montreal is so bad that even with some rotation we could still win. I wouldn’t bench Gazdag, though. He’s struggling, and playing a weak Montreal side might be an opportunity for him to right himself.
Gazdag's lack of production is undeniable. But it's also obvious he's been a very good player in this league. When we acquired DeJuan Jones, everyone knew he was a quality player, too, but from the get-go there were also questions about whether and how he'd fit into Nancy's system. Not so much, it seems. Gazdag, on the other hand, should fit in. I'm just not all that concerned, even if his productivity has been nothing short of awful.
OK I admit to being tres confused here. May 14 is Wednesday, but the posting here says the game is on Saturday. Which is the 17th. And up at the top it says that the poll.will close on July 22, 2025 which means that 100% of the participants should easily get it right. Am I missing something?
My brain, captain. She's cooked. Operating off a couple bottles of Gatorade and a few crackers between Friday and Monday morning due to the stomach flu probably didn't help, either.
Tickets behind the Crew bench are around $17 bucks right now and Montreal is under a two hour drive. I might have to go again like last year. Just annoyed it is another Wednesday game.
Heard about a sweet Tifo to pay tribute to Crew legends , can’t wait till Saturday so let’s hurry up and get 3 points in MTL. Hope we bury them in first half and selectively rest 5 guys (Nagbe, Chambost ,Moreira ,Gazdag & Rossi all come to mind as possible) Take them out around 60-75m meanwhile Toronto hopefully is a handful and gives a FCC a tough match that doesn’t allow them to pull guys late.
I'd love to hear what your Applebee's waitress said and if it's the same and what my Applebee's waitress told me.
That is some good comedy right there. Don’t you know who our coach is? Nancy will only sub three of them, and it will be the 87th min.
I really don't see Nancy rotating the squad much aside from the usual JRR/AZ and Cheba/Malte decisions. I could maybe see Gazdag held out if he's still dealing with the injury that forced him out of the lineup against Charlotte. I think what's more likely is earlier substitutions. Nagbe probably only goes 65-70'. Probably pull Arfsten and Farsi around 70-75 depending on how the game is going. Our schedule just hasn't been congested enough to force Nancy into a bunch of changes.
10/10 would recommend Montreal as an away game. Fans were really nice, the city is awesome and easily accessible via transit, and ticket prices weren't bad at all.
My younger son and I did the trip last year to Montreal (similar setup, Wednesday night game in May). Had a very good time. Highly recommend. Plus, on the benches side (the older concrete stands), you can get up and close to the players when they enter and exit the field before, at halftime, and after the game. EDIT: I see you went last year. I need to learn to read first!
Yeah I’m not talking about holding anyone out , that won’t likely happen unless someone is banged up pretty good. But not playing a full 90 Wednesday would be helpful to keep a guy like Nagbe as fresh as possible.
