Re: CCL Semis: RSL vs. Saprissa 3/15 10 PM EST The thread title is incorrect. Daylight Saving Time starts on Sunday in the U.S. The game is at 10 PM EDT.
According to this article Saprissa might have to play their home match at the brand-new Estadio Nacional. The Nacional has a running track and natural grass: Apparently the lights at the Ricardo Saprissa are not up to standard. Why this wasn't an issue for the quarterfinals I guess only CONACAF knows. After the already fortunate overall "draw" for RSL are the stars aligining for the USSF/MLS this year? (with a bit of help from Jack and Chuck?)
And we have the first viewing conflict since the RSL vs. Saprissa game on Tuesday 3/15 is on at the same time as the Seattle vs. LA First Kick 2011. Warm up the DVRs.
@DesNewsReal: An ill Beckerman (cold) missed 2nd straight practice today, and Kreis calls his availability on Tuesday as questionable
Boo!!! Playing without Beckerman is really hard for RSL. I'm certain the SS would have been RSL's had Beckerman not had that weird foot injury early this last year. I would say only *choking* Pablowhard *choking* rivals Beckerman in disrupting an opponents' attack. Grababoy can cover for him alright, but it ain't the same.
Still 72 hours to go before the actual game. I can't believe he wouldn't be ready by then, unless it's something (much) more serious than a cold.
Saborio wouldn't miss this for the world. He loves this competition, plus Saprissa is his former team, adding extra incentive. Kreis says he's 100% physically ready, just not 100% mentally ready. He'll be fine. Edit - btw, any RSL fans know what kind of attendance we can expect?
Fourth time an MLS team has hosted Saprissa in the first leg of a CONCACAF knockout tie. The previous three have all ended 0-0.
Where do you think Beckerman learned it from? BTW, you might want to get that throat issue looked at.
Just to let everyone know that there will be a live post match show at Feuerstein's Fire Internet Soccer Show. Midnight EDT - 9PM PDT A half hour show as soon as the first leg match is over between RSL & Deportivo Saprissa. www.blogtalkradio.com/feuersteinsfire
There is also the 1-1 draw between Columbus and Saprissa in the 2001 CONCACAF Giants Cup. In all cases it didn't end well for the MLS teams in Costa Rica. Eliminating Saprissa in a knock-out round would be a first. Four more games and Santa will bring the CWC in December to the team who's been good this year.
And hopefully the 2011 CWC will provide a much needed diversion to the people there who are going thru rough times.
That was the second leg. Other than Houston a few years ago, MLS teams have played alright at the Saprissa. LA and KC should have won their ties there. With an away goals rule they would have won. But they need to build an advantage at home.
I am so how more interested in this than the season opener, but I watch the season opener first and far most , if I find the ESPN game boring you can catch me at FSC.
